    Tapered or Conical wheel studs?

Hey guys, just picked up a used set of Oettinger RZ 2pc 19"...

I took off my oem stock's and put the RZ's on. I want to know if it's OK to reuse the OEM studs or should i get new one's? The oem studs feel's like they are too short when i was bolting them on. I was maybe able to get maybe 4-5 full turns from tightening. Also, i was unsure about the seat on these RZ vs OEM, are they the same? I mean tapered vs conical?

    Thanks

the choices are ball seat or conical, since you probably increased the space between the wheel and the rotor you will need bigger bolts however 5 turns sounds sufficient to me

I have seen 7 turns as the standard so you might want slightly longer ones if you are worried. As for the seat type, you should be able to feel if the surface on the wheel is curved (ball/rounded seat) or if it is a straight chamfer (conical/tapered seat). The ball seat will still fit in a conical seat wheel, however the contact area will be minimal. The tire rack is a good place to get the right length and type if you need new ones.

ya,.. thats the problem... i felt both the oem seat and oettinger seat, and they both felt the same to me... just want someone with wheel experience for an input for the correct type of seat.

    Thanks

If I remember correctly Oettinger wheels use a ball seat just like OEM Audi wheels, so they should look/feel the same. I don't remember if they recommend longer bolts than OEM though.
