Officially blew my first coilpack in a year..

So its been a year and 2 months since I bought my baby and never had a problem with coilpacks... till today. I was driving to dance practice when I downshifted into fourth and right when I hit full boost, my car bogged and I see a flashing CEL.. I'm like fuck.. did I blow something? It certainly felt like it. I continued driving and the car continued to choke whenever I tried to accelerate.. Had no idea what it was till I heard my car sounding like a WRX.. So I finally figured out what the problem was, but unfortunately I didnt have spare coilpacks with me. Where do I get them anyways? Well bringing it to EIP and hopefully Louis will have a spare one for me.

I would get them from the VW dealerships or online. Some guys carry a full set of 4 but personally 1 or 2 is fine IMO. Its an easy 5-10 min fix.

when you blew your first one did you replace all 4 or just the one that blew? i heard its recommended you change all 4 and keep the three good ones as spares

The first and only time (crossing fingers) a CP blew on me, I replaced all 4 w/ the latest and greatest at the time. I picked them up from a VW dealership down the road from where it happened. I now have 3 spares in the trunk.

When mine went I just replaced the blown one. After reading some posts on here, I went ahead and bought 4 R's and now have 4 spares in the trunk.

So get them from a VW dealership and not a Audi one? Or does it matter? But yeah I think I'm gonna just replace all four. BTW, how do you pull the CPs out? I unclipped them, but I have no idea how to pull them out. Sorry for the stupid noob questions, but again, I never blew a CP before. I gotta admit, I like the WRX sound.. hahahah jk!

afaik audi will charge a bit more for the same thing (revision R coilpacks). to remove them you unclip them..and pull straight up..theyre held in by suction

yeah you can do that method or hook it up to a vag and it will tell you which one is blown. i can check it out for you if you want..i wanted to check out your car anyway

And awesome Mike. I actually just went to the Audi dealership and just bought 4 brand new ones.. the stupid VW dealership said they needed the part # for the CPs and I didnt know what they were so I just went to the Audi one.. $40 a piece.. fucking rip. But I need my car cleared of the CEL. Lemme know when you wanna do it man.
