    Vibration over 65 MPH

Ok so i got the springs and shocks all on about 2-3 weeks ago, its all settled, now i got the car aligned 1 time and the wheels balanced 3 times now, and still yet the car gets bad vibration around the 65/70 - 85 mph mark, BUT! the steering wheel isn't shaking or vibrating , so it feels as if maybe its coming from the rear? do you think i should get it re-aligned, or bigger sways or maybe rs6 tie-rods?? (even tho they have nothing to do with the rear) but my best guess is my tires are wearing bad, and they are starting to cup a bit, i think thats what it really might be, do you guys have any idea? thanks!

    Hey Frank,

From my experience if you can feel it in the seats it's the rear. The forum member I sold the wheels to knew about the vibration and it was a bad tire. After replacing the tires the vibration went away. My car vibrates now because both of the rear wheels are bent. Good luck Frank, I know it's very very annoying to have that.

    Re: Vibration over 65 MPH

I think wed all have oir have had a vibration! I have one now i cannot get rid off, though I did have two bent wheels and a F'd up alignment. Now it is minimal and narrowed down to brake rotors I think. But mine is in the front. Yours is definitely in the back... Probably a bent rim or tire issue. Try putting your rear wheels to thr front and see if the vibration chnages to the front (steering wheel shimmey). If so at least you'll have narrowed it down to rim or tire for sure.
Also whenever your lower/stiffen your suspension and/or sways, you accentuate the problems and feel it more often times. So that may be why you did not feel it before or it was not as noticable.
    Have a great day, Brice

I Just put Audi A5 19"255/35 sport wheels on my 2006 A6 & i put center rings on it to stop any vibration but i still get vibration at high speeds and i got all tires high speed balanced twice and the rims have no bends. Also the tire pressure malfunction alert keeps coming on after i reset it. Doesn't anyone know how to stop the vibration & pressure malfunction alerts? I just relied on the shop to put everything together. I know they both have the same P.C.D however the off set differs between the 2 models and I don't know if that will matter. (20-35 A5, 35-45 A6)
The A5 has a center bore of 66.56 as opposed to the A6's 57.1 I ask them to put center rings because that what i was told it needed. i did not physically check them myself...i figured they knew what i needed. The center rings helped the vibration under 65mph but i still get vibration at Higher speeds.

TPMS problem: I heard you have to Transferred the TPMS monitors? ..in the car setup i can reset the Tire pressure so the computer knows what the pressure should be but that doesn't seem to work. The TPMS comes on after driving for a little while, after i reset it. Any help would be great...Thanks!

YOU??? STOCK WHEELS!?!?! I thought Hell was getting a bit chilly... Sounds like it must be a rear issue if the steering wheel is fine. Try a front to rear rotation, or a different pair of rear wheels. That would determine flat spots, wheel bends, wheel balance, etc. If still there, maybe hub bearings.

Or, just keep it over 85..
