    Re: s4 tranny in 1.8t?

Can be done...but it's not worth it. Tranny will bolt right in. But your gonna need the shifter,Front uprights,Front CV axles, rear axle, rear drive shaft. I think thats it but there might be more.

Your better off getting a 2.8 tranny. It will bolt in with no modification.

Yes still a 5 speed. Gearing is a bit different. 1.8T guys seem to like them. Used ones are cheap and in better shape than the 1.8T units.

If you're going with a bigger turbo you're certainly better off with a 2.8 tranny. Putting in a 6speed is a pain in the ass because you need to buy the rear differential and axles to make it work, I think you need the whole brake setup too because a4 axles don't work with that tranny. I thought about it (thank god I didn't haha) Not only that, S4 trannies go for 1500-1800 while a 2.8 is going to run you under 800, and its a direct bolt up.

I would like to know this also. I think their gonna be similar to the S4 box since B5 S4 brakes are a bolt on for B6 A4's.

EOD-5 Keep in mind Mawhitey's car is a frontrak. A Quattro car is gonna need the rear diff and I believe the rear drive shaft also.
