    wheel cleaning help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    hi,
I was washing my car today and used Eagle-1 A2Z Wheel and Tire cleaner my OZ ULs. It seems that the clean left some residues on my wheel that i CANNOT get off. The finish is smooth and seems like the finish now has black streaks(where the wheel cleaner was dripping off)..

I tried using the regular car washing soap with a toothbrush and even clay bar and it didnt help.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

was the wheel cool or hot when you applied the wheel cleaner? they are normally for cool wheels.

oz finish is terrible and prone to acid staining. Sounds like they need to be repainted.

try using polish on it. let the polish soak on the stain and rub it in. they try to rub it off. worse case, you can try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Magic Eraser does wonders when used properly...be careful, it is an abrasive and will scratch your rims...dont apply alot of pressure when using it...

    Re: wheel cleaning help

try using polish like the guys said it might get rid of some of the stains on the finish of the wheels.

you may want to also try to use something safer like P21S Wheel Cleaner.

Or einszett Wheel Cleaner which is acid free. The Eagle One cleaners sounds like it's either too alkaline or too acidic and therefore the reason for the staining. Polish should remove it without resorting to a paint job. If a mild polish doesn't work, you might have to bump it up to a swirl reducer like Paint Polish or a fine cutting polish like Extra.

Keep in mind that it's best to use a Wheel Cleaner only when you have a build up of brake dust or pitting. Otherwise, you a pH balance carwash shampoo to clean your wheels and paintwork.

    Re: wheel cleaning help

Be sure to only clean your wheels when they are cool to the touch!

Clean with P21S it is the best wheel cleaner, hands down!
Follow-up with the clay bar, then polish, then FMJ or wheel wax.
