I hate you guys... I've been trying for a month now to justify why I should NOT get tints...
1) I drive through Jersey EVERY day to get to work, and I used to get pulled over in my old car with 20% all the way around every 3 or 4 days... they wouldn't give me a ticket because I'm from New York, but they would waste my time nonetheless...
1.5) Cops seem to like cars with tints because I know that if I was tinted already, there would have been some situations where I would have definitely got pulled over, but because the cop looked at the car, saw a completely stock A4 with no tints and a guy in a suit driving it, they let it slide... Just my opinion but it's happened three times so far...
2) In the old Civic, the sensitivity on my Passport 8500 seemed great... ... ... until I put it in my A4 with no tints on it (so far... bastards... did I mention I hate you all?
) and the range seemed to go up by 60 to 70 percent... I figured it was the tint, but I didn't know why until right now when someone mentioned metallic tint, or ceramic tint...
So my question for you guys is this... Since all these cars look great, whether it be 5% or 35% (the latter is what I'm probably going to end up doing... I really like the idea of 20% but I have a feeling I'm going to get hassled by the poh leese), what kind of tint can I get that will affect the range on the Passport the least. Also, are there any reputable shops that anyone knows of in the Rockland County area of New York... I'm not averse to taking a trip across the Hudson into Westchester if the shop is good.
Also, I used a shop in Queens on my previous car and they only charged me $120 dollars. The tint never bubbled, but it did start to fade after three years. Friends of mine who have a B6 S4, Acura TL, STi all got their cars tinted, and they all spent around $250 because they got it done at the same place and they all swear by the guy, but does that seem overpriced to anyone or is that about right to get my A4 tinted?
P.S. - I hate you all, why did someone have to start this thread?
