stock grill - brushed aluminum surround. (with pics)

I started prepping the grill surround to paint it black with plasti-dip, and figured i'd try a brushed aluminum look instead.
and i love it ! so i'm keeping it this way, i think it flows really well with silver.
I don't mind the rs4 grill, but everyone has it and i like the bars of the stock grill. so the stock grill with brushed aluminum surround is the best combo for me.

and i also removed the quattro badge from the grill

Looks good and I have always liked the chrome rings because they match and flow with the head lights.

go ahead and try it
i used a vibrating sander with 200 grit sand paper to sand everything, and then went with 100 grit by hand following the lenght of the piece for the brushed look.
this stuff is like real chrome and hard to sand

and yeah the rings are staying chrome, it matches with the rear one.
and IMO i don't think audi rings should be painted or sanded, they just look so clean in chrome. i know a lot of people paint them black, but it's not really my cup of tea

i don't have any at the moment and i started taking the car appart for bodywork at the end of the week, and i'm on temporary wheels right now too.
so i'll have pics next week with the new wheels and everything.

yeah i used to block it at first with my mk3, and then i thought anyone can see it when i drive around so i just stopped.
and i don't think the cops from my town will take a complaint seriously from a long distance call from someone that saw my car on the internet

I guess if your car is still under warranty dealerships can look at posts and pictures to see who modified their car. I think Mitsubishi was doing it and voiding a bunch of warranties.

well i didn't keep that look for long. i found it was too subtle and if your were looking quickly you'd think it was still a stock grill.
i went with my original idea and painted it black, i like the agressive look of it

now the car is at the body shop and i'm waiting for my 'new to me' wheels... i'll post some updated pics in the next week.

I think both the brushed aluminium, and satin black surrounds look great.

As long as the rings remain.

reason the plates are blocked is cause most list mods they have to the car, a theif will then have a shopping list and all he needs to do is find your car with plate number on it and know what would be inside.

it is not real chrome. it is plastic.... i like the look.

It IS real chrome, plated onto ABS plastic... otherwise A) after 2 months of driving around you'd have a spotty grille surround, and B) you wouldn't be able to do this mod to a standard where it actually resembles brushed aluminium.

And Mattro I agree, it looks fantastic in black and aluminium, I like black best, and your front lip looks great too, I've never seen a better use of the standard bumper

well they won't come with tires... $425 plus shipping is what i was thinking
and you saw the wheels, they had a couple little scuffs, but i barely drove them so they are exactly like how i got them.

edit: and they also come with hub rings for Audi/VW and 20 conical lug nuts
