    cv joint replacement

I have the axle out and in a vice when the new joint is on it slides back and forth about an 1/8 of an inch so I compared the old joint to the new one and the old ones overall height is 1/8" higher from the splined end to the end with the bearing cage, when standing side by side on the bench. When I assembled it the thin metal washer went on first with the convexed side toward the engine and the thrust washer with the smaller diameter toward the outer cv joint. I've hit the cv joint with heavy hammer and there doesn't appear to be anymore room to drive it on.

    Re: cv joint replacement

Something still tells me you didn't put the right peice on... Should be thin metal washer and then the thicker plastic part... Looks like the one here...

    Re: cv joint replacement

Thats how I put them on the thin metal washer then the thick plastic washer with the smaller diameter towards the cv joint just like in your picture. So are you saying that the cv joint should tight up against the washers.
