    cv joint replacement

I'm replacing the cv joint on my 1999 a 4. I drove the new joint onto the axle shaft and I've hit it with heavy hammer pretty hard but it moves back and forth on the shaft about .25". I've got the axle out and in a vice so can see and hit it pretty good. It would seem like it shouldn't move.

    Re: cv joint replacement

Sounds like you forgot something... There is supposed to be a conical bushing that goes on first... Made out of plastic...

What happens if you assemble with out the plastic thing?

One of mine was split so i stuck it together anyway without the washer/conical bush, seems ok.....I think
