2.8 V6 Turbo?

I recently just bought a 96 2.8 and i was wondering what kind of kit or who makes a turbo kit that will work on the 2.8. All the kits i come across are listed for the 1.8T. Is it possible to make the 2.8 a 2.8T?

Supercharge it! there are those in the market. Twin/single turbo kits for that car are generally custom made.

There happens to be one in the classified section right now. Here ya go. I am just not sure if it will mate to a B5 and what accessories are needed for it to work.

Superchargers are for the 30V V6 only. (98+) You have the 12V V6.

and yeah to the OP,listen to the last two guys, the SC will not work on the 12v unless you get a custom standalone too, so I mean yeah it could be done, but you'd be investing well more then the cost of the car to have any type of forced induction.

You would probably have to spend double what that car is worth to go forced induction and there would be a large amount of custom work that you can't do or you wouldn't have posted this. I wouldn't put ANY mods on that car. Just leave it stock and take any money you were going to use for mods and buy a car that can take mods. Or sell the 2.8 and buy a 1.8t.

I've seen it done but then again its just a rear mount turbo. From what i understand, and if anyone knows better let me know, is that the rear mounted turbos are good for cars like corvettes, large displacement and no room under the hood. The large displacement gets the car going during the normal "lag" period and then the turbo kicks in.

Know any other info? The one i saw was on car domain but the turbo was a few inches from the ground with a stock ride height.

i had a link to 2 or 3 videos on here a while ago of a local guy in a red 2.8 with a rear mount. he posted on the local audi club boards but as far as i know never showed face. someone in deed out there had a 2.8 with a rear mount turbo tearing ass through some auto X. video was from about 20-30 yards off the passenger side.

check out the 12 valve forum on audiworld. there are a bunch of things you can do and they will probably be a lot more informative regarding your questions than the people here.

Alot of members on here dont think it can be done because you cant tune the ignition timing, but Ive been running one for over a year now and have run boost on average of 8psi with water alcohol injection. stock internals, stock ecu, fuel system mods....

at list ... it is available in the $3900 range. what do you guys pay for a gtrs when all is said and done?

around 4000k if most things are new mine brings to a little over 3000 with NO clutch!

Agreed, this is one of the reasons I sold mine.

I'd have to find it again, but there is a supercharger kit for 'em. You just have to look real hard.
