Stainless steel test pipe made for the Audi A4 1.8T, from 1996-2005 and VW Passat 1.8T 1996-2001.

This is a brand new test pipe design that we just came out with. It is made specifically for the B5 and B6 A4s. Our test pipe is that our test pipe was designed to look and fit exactly like an OEM piece.



An advantage to our test pipe design is its ability to minimalize the amount of heat that gets transfered from the cat into the engine bay. We were able to accomplish this by designing a shell around the pipe. Our shell's design is a better alternative to the conventional heat wraps that people use.



Again, just to clarify, this is not a real cat, and is not intended for use on the streets. This is a straight pipe that is designed for off-road use only.

Removes unwanted exhaust backpressures caused by the restrictive stock cat

^there already is a cheap one out there. don't know why you need another one..

but this design is pretty sweet. especially for those that live in area's like california where you go through a vigorous visual check for a cat.

ya but when they do that "vigorous visual check" they'll see the BIG sign on the side that says FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY.

i do like it though......it's nice, maybe that sheild will reduce some of the gas smell that you get with other testpipes....

pure genius, I am thinking about picking this up after i have to smog. the only reason why I bought the Labree HFC is because if I have to go to inspection they will see I have a cat. this is best of both worlds

Yea, this is definitely a good design, since it'll give you a OEM look, and contain heat better than other test pipes currently out there.

Looks like the For Off Road Use Only stamp faces upward, however, there are many ways which you can cover it up, if you don't like the way it looks. Simplest way is to have a small sheet of metal tack welded on there, or maybe a sticker would work, if it could stand up to the constant heat.

I noted this in another thread that I made, in a different section, but the OEM heatshield was designed to function as a heat shield, and to keep heat away from the rest of the engine bay's components. It was also designed to give a OEM fit and finish look to the car, once installed.

We tried looking at other places to put the stamp, but it just wasn't possible. Trust me, if we could have, we would have done it.

I like the design and the concept, but that stamping is whats gonna kill it for allot of potential buyers I think

the concept and resulting premium price are well justified if it doesn't have the off road use only sticker on it

sell it as a test pipe, lable all over the box and packaging like the rest of the test pipes do, but leave it off the unit and you'll get more sales for sure, including mine

let the customer decide if they want to run it in an ilegal situation, and if they wish to let their ilegal decision be known , don't make their choice for them

Can any one who is currently running with this inform us if it throws out the CEL? I am looking for testimonials please, not suppositions.

So, you didn't know which way the stamp was visible (until a client purchased and installed it?)

I was very interested in this product except for the stamp (i just got popped in california w/ my testpipe) It looks like a freakin awesome design IMO, come out with a 3" and i might still get one.

Regarding the CEL issue, some cars get it, while others don't. It is almost an isolated incident at times. I did mention earlier (or maybe it was in another similar thread I made), that you will get a CEL if you do not get your car chipped or reprogrammed to have it turned off. I have 3 of the same threads going on in different sections of this board, so sometimes I lose track of which answer gets posted, to different questions, etc.

I also already had the idea that the stamp would be facing upwards, or not hidding. I just wanted to be 100% sure. We've had it installed on another car, but it was just the prototype design. I rather wait a week, and get a solid answer from a 2nd source, than to give you guys an answer and be wrong about it. Again, I am sorry if that causes you to think that I don't know the answer. I just want to be 100% certain about things, and have multiple (more than one) sources to confirm it with me.

We currently have no plans for it. As you can imagine, the shell/cover design would be compromised and have to be entirely redesigned for a 3" inner diameter pipe. I am actually not even sure if there would be enough room for a pipe that big, with the heat shield covering around it.

As far as the heat containment I am curious. Any comparisons from one test pipe to another?
I'm not too interested, honestly but it would be good advertisement.

The next exhaust purchase I make is a good muffler. After that it'll be BT time of course including a new DP.

Our test pipe is kind of a all in one design. You get something that will give you not just better exhaust flow, but also OEM fitment/design, and contain some of the heat within the exhaust system better, instead of letting it flow out into the engine bay.

If you feel that those small extra benefits aren't worth the extra money, then we also have just a standard test pipe, without the heat shield design for $89 dollars plus $12 for shipping:
