    Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Would any avant fans out there consider the TurboX 9-3 SportCombi from Saab with the new torque vectoring Haldex and 2.8L V6 Turbo (280 hp)

I always liked the 9-3 wagon's looks, but they only offered a FWD drive train. Now that they put in the new haldex, i'm taking a second look at it....

I think I'm still going to stick to the new B8 Avant (IF a manual transmission is available on it....)

meh. it's a GM product. maybe not literally, but GM owns saab, so no thanks. plus, the hood looks too low in relation to the roof.

I think I've seen a couple of them around. I like 'em. Think they have some nice lines. Not sure what they've got in terms of power or how they handle.

IMO... Good/great engine, looks okay, cutting edge 4 wheel drive system all good things; but have you really sat in one and looked closely at the interior bits??? Not the best plastics, poor fit, loose e-brake handle, and way too many buttons.

Interior is really cheesy and not very well laid out... but it is "Born from Jets" so I guess it's cool.

    Re: Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

I'd at least take one for a test drive. I would've given the 9-5 wagon more consideration if it was AWD when I wound up with my Avant. I think the 9-3 wagon makes up for the fact that they turned the 9-3 into a sedan. It just doesn't seem right. But to me, there's no Saab like the 80s-early 90s 900 Turbo convertible. I can definitely see that as an impulse buy down the road.

    Re: Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

I was looking into the 9-3s, but the taillights on the wagon are just a bit much. The sedan is hotness though, wish the older ones came with something else besides wrong wheel drive...

I like it a lot, but I'm sure that the dealers are marking the price up big time as it should be a hot seller and it's numbers are limited...

    Re: Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

Love it to pieces. I'm a former 9-5 Aero owner and to "get" a SAAB you kinda have to convince the salesguy to shut his pie hole and allow you to lay into it as if it were REALLY yours. Nothing but magic at that point. Modding a 9-5 was quite irritating though as the more power you added the more the steering wheel danced in your hands like a gypsy on crack. Hearing that this whip has AWD almost makes me want one…then there’s trying to find parts for modding…

Great cars if stock is your thing, but from simple stuff like aftermarket rims on…I’d sooner marinate my sack with battery acid than go through that EVER again
**With all the noob mods I've bought, I've learned that cars are just motorcycles with training wheels. Married men can buy whatever we want as long as one of the purchases is a comfortable couch**

    Re: Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

I think the SportCombis are pretty great looking - and this one is even nicer. Too bad they're so limited in their production. The dealers are going to mark them up big for sure.

    Re: Saab TurboX 9-3 SportCombi

The taillights made me throw up in my mouth a little. I can't get past the way they crawl all the way up each side of the hatch. A little to Pontiac Aztek for my tastes - it's the same styling cue that ruined me on Volvo wagons so it's sad to see Saab go the same direction. Making them Altezzas doesn't help, just makes it more likely someone's going to confuse it with a Mazda 5.

If you're gonna copy something, start with the hawk-head look of the 2-piece taillights on the B7 Avant...

Like mrleftlane said, the car IS nice but when it comes to modding i dont think it would be alot of aftermarket parts for it...i'd rather get another Volvo....

We have a 9-3 ARC, it's POS, everything breaks, buttons peel worse than Audi's, don't do it!
