    Hey guys,

Im a newbie to the automotive/Audi world and after reading on this forum, ive realized that theres alot more to Audi than i thought. Any ideas on simple and easy mods i could make on my car myself instead of sending it to a shop. Im looking to enhance the beauty of the car more than the power (im still a beginner and 200hp is juuust fine for now) interior or exterior mods welcome. Thanx for the help.

He wants looks over performance but I must say if you were to get any performance then the chip is the way to go. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE!

I'm new too, but here's what I figure so far.

    Tints
    Clear Corner Mod
Something with the front. Cupra Lip for a year or so, then maybe RS4 front
    Rims/Tires
    S4 Side Door Moldings
    LED city lights
    LED halo lights
    Chip

    Re: beginner mods

    1. debadge the rear = free
    2. lowering - via coilovers ideally
    3. new wheels - but bear in mind the shape of the spokes may interfere with the huge brake calipers on the B7 A4

2 & 3 will make the most difference to how the car looks

anything else from here is more down to personal taste. i'm more of a fan of subtle, classy mods, but it's ur car, so go for what u want...

from ur sig, i see u've got a quartz grey s-line, so u already have 18s & s-line suspension, and of course the fantastic looking s-line bodywork so u've got a good starting point to move forward from

    Re: beginner mods

I think the simplest mods you can do to get started would be

    1. Window Tint
    2. De-badging
    3. Lamin-X (Tails and Fogs)
    4. Drop in K&N Filter
    5. Spacers
    6. Lip Spoiler

Those are the simplest mods that can help you make the car your own. There are a ton of threads on each of those items. If you use the search function, then you can learn alot. Old threads are saved for a reason. For example, use the advanced search function and search "spacers" in the B7 forum. Click the option that says "check titles only". YOu can find anything you need. Post any questions that aren't answered in those threads.

If you want to do things right, then you have to put the work in. I have been reading the boards now for 3 months and I haven't done anything yet. Educate yourself. All the info is here.

Good luck and welcome to the boards.

vag-com. sure, doesn't do *much* visually ('cept the foglight/citylight recode), but that seatbelt chime would drive Ghandi to choke a b!tch.

    Re: beginner mods

here's the stuff that was on my quick-to-do list when i got my car:

    1) front filler plate
    2) rear license plate frame
    3) xenon match drl's
    4) hoen xenon match fog lights
    5) hoen xenon match city lights <- switching to buttafuoco's led's asap.
    6) rs4 pedals
    7) window tint (next for me)

need to do the vag mods as well. rotw lighting and seat belt chime. <- it's fine while i'm driving, since i always wear my seat belt, but when i'm just sitting in my car with the car on (talking on the phone/picking someone up/etc), like minameismud said, it gets annoying fast!

My issue with the seatbelt chime is that I can't even throw my laptop bag on the passenger seat when I get in the car. That annoys me.

    Re: beginner mods

If you are going to mod your engine, get all your bolt ons and intakes, etc.. Then get the chip last. But since we are talking about looks, you should get tints, lightly smoke out your taillights with overlays or paint.( overlays are much easier for DIY) Lower your car when you can get some shocks and springs. I'm a fan of halo's and i think they look sick on audis.

    Re: beginner mods

i've had my car for about 6-8 months so far and all ive really done so far is tinting and debadge. i need to get some more money before i get a chip or anything else.

Your best bet overall from what ive seen and heard is a chip. most money for most performance. it will be a totally different car.

i do, and i require all my passengers to as well. however, if i'm sitting in a parking lot with the engine running waiting for someone to come out, i'm not going to be wearing the belt, and i sure as hell don't want to be reminded about it every 30 !@#(*$% seconds.

OP, get the vag-com cable. it's $20 shipped off ebay, and if only to show off the remote windows to your friends, it's totally worth it.

VAG IT..... That was my first mod. you can also do a short shifter, it's pretty much a DIY if you have the tools. For chipping you def need to go to a shop, same for coilover.

Please see previous post regarding the search function. There is a walkthrough that tells you everything you need to know. If you have any questions after reading it, then ask them.
