tried searching but with no luck. i tallked to my local shop and i told them yeah im looking to replace my dv and honestly i would like a little "whoosh" or "psh" and they said dv should not make noise?? is that true??

are there any DV's out there that are safe to run off of our engines and stock turbo that can make that noise? also i dont mind adding an intake tiher.. what do you guys suggest. they suggested an R1 but there have only been "so-so" reviews about that.

    Re: DV questions

If you want sound, your going to need two to three things.

    Chip + intake + DV

I have a video if you want to see how mine sounds, but its not the best of videos.

I have a carbonio intake with a forge 007 installed in reverse and its perfectly safe to run this way.

    Re: DV questions

I first noob mod was the Evoms intake and it will give you the sound you crave... you can hear the car drawing air in as you shift throught the gears... I have the 007 Forge DV but installed the normal direction. The chip isn't going to give you any sound but will make the car more enjoyable to drive... beware though, once you chip you will want more...

    Re: DV questions

i personally after reading everything....twice! i ended up buying the R1 and the stage 1+ software, and love it. all i have for an intake is a k&n drop in but when boosting at around 20psi i can here it a bit. i am currently working on a new intake so i should here it no problem. also the R1 helped by driveability big time. it is a very fast acting valve.

thats a clip of the Forge SPLT-R dv/bov i bought. it recirculates air and releases it atmospherically so you get the sound and performance. this clip was made with the stock airbox

    Re: DV questions

^^ not bad, looks real similar to my overpriced EVOMS but you may want some sort of heat shield and remove the old air box

    Re: DV questions

its a three inch filter and the mas airflow is ethier 2.5 or 2.75 but i tape the ouer part of the mass air flow for aight seal.

and for the other quesion i left of the maf and i threw a cheack egin light then i earsed it and conect the mass air flow and got no cheack ain u have to make sure u have some cooled air running to ur intake like how i still have that air vent and i amm gitting a heat shield soon fro mthe guy on our forum bu it cheep and what ur looking for is sound that is the way to go i got a pr r and will be putting that on soon once it comes in so i gues that will make it little lounder and then comes test pipe and lines and chip then rest of the exshaust and the turbo upgrade

i found it on here never used for 100 shipped. i was going to do the install myself but my coilovers came about the same time and i had stage in kirkland do the complete install from coilovers alingment and diverter vavle for $280 after tax. 2 1/2 hours worth of labor. Hell since they had the car in the air it made sense to just have them do it.

    Re: DV questions

i run that setup w/ just a 3" filter on the maf but for no reason since i run full bov... as for runability, i have never had a problem with it...and i also took the factory heat shield off of the stock air box and put it between the cat and the filter and it's held there by an old school piece of coat hanger... cheap...yes... effective...about 70%... look good...not really.. overall, it's cheap, and it works pretty good for being free...

I have APR 1+ and no sound. Just a boost leak from soo much boost the damn hose popped right off the new DV(my guess), so I have a constant hissing in boost, instead of alot of power that i should be getting. Make sure you clamp those mofo's on tight. Anyway, to the Original Poster, Just get in open air intake with a cone, like the rest of the people said. LLTek makes a real nice one if your willing to put down $300.
