    Yes, ANOTHER Cupra Lip Thread...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just got a Cupra lip put on. This is actually my 2nd one purchased; some of you have actually seen it on my car. If anyone wants one, you can purchase these through Pure Euro. Just PM him if you're interested. Lip comes out to about $115 shipped and packaged VERY nicely, if I may say so myself.

But anyway..to the main point. I picked this up yesterday, as an early Father's Day present to my dad. Had it installed this morning at Eurowurx in Burbank. It came out fantastic and I honestly couldn't be any happier with it. Nevertheless, here are the pics:

And since I'm such a whore...

Re: Yes, ANOTHER Cupra Lip Thread...

    Nicely fitted !

Many other installs have them too far forward - it's a personal preference but for me, this fit is just right ! ...

I have one but am yet to fit it, how much has been cut of the centre posts of the lip ?

PS: Car is so damn clean ! [O_O]

It's a very flexible lip. You just cut to fit, basically, then line it up, screwing it on and bending as you go.

Re: Yes, ANOTHER Cupra Lip Thread...

    Looks very nice!

I just got mine yesterday and it is still sitting in the wrapping.

I was just wondering, how are they installed when they are installed 'professionally'? Do they use regular screws or perhaps something else?

And also do you know if there are any additional cutting needed (other than the obvious cutting of the 'pillars' in the front) in order to get your tight fit?

By the way...I just needed to rub in your face that I paid around 35$. Finally SOMETHING that is cheaper on this side of the pond.

    Regards
    Johan

LOL. Congrats on the bargain. Anyway, to answer your question, aside from cutting the center supports, we shaved off the tabs that stick up from the little panels. I think you know what I mean. They do use your pretty average screws, however. With mine, it's secured by 24 screws, with clamps/clips holding them in place on the other side of the bumper.

Re: Yes, ANOTHER Cupra Lip Thread...

    very well fitted & aligned.

workshop guys are only human though, so if ur reasonably competent, there's no reason why you couldn't get the same results.

i'm going to be fitting mine this weekend - but i'll make sure i have all the securing bits & pieces before i begin... plus i'll get a mate to help - an extra pair of hands is definitely needed to get the alignment perfect.

If you don't know what you're doing, it may be best if you went this route. But seeing as I helped with installation, it's not that difficult. You just need to have the right tools and patience. One piece of advice I can give is DON'T RUSH. When cutting the center supports down, start off longer, then try fitting it to the bumper each time. It's a case of trial and error. It definitely isn't impossible to get perfect as a DIY, though.

Thank you sir. I'll try to get more pics for you guys. I may or may not get that done today, as it might be raining outside. As for the length of the lip (in relation to where it ends), it's perfect. It stops at that groove in the fender, right before the mudflap.

x2. Good luck with the install.

Well, it all depends on who you take it to. Don't be surprised if some shops charge you more than the actual lip. It's all a matter of how much shops charge hourly. For example, my friend took it to a shop where he was charged $100 for install ([O_O]). I, on the other hand, took it to a different place where my friends and I worked on it and was charged a significantly less. Call up a couple shops in your area. Install, especially the 2nd time around, is very painless and simple.

    ultimatetaba8,
would you be able to take a photo or two from the bottom up?
I'm sorry to ask you for a cumbersome task, but it'd be helpful to see how the shop installed it (bolt placement/size) - haven't decided whether to install it on my own or not.
