Is it ok to run two different brands on different axles? If the front tires are the same size and rating as the rears, only different brands, will that be alright?

    thanks in advance

more info. what are you talking about running. Just to give you a idea. people think its a big no no to run staggered on awd. Its ok. as long as the diameter are the same across the axles its ok. I personally wouldnt run different tires specially in a racing situation. I run all hoosiers for the track and run wider tires up front to fight understeer. But your car with different tires front and rear will problary be pretty unpredictable. hope this helps

and no matter what the size of the tire is different brands vary. Say if a hoosier in the same size of a toyo is 25 inches dia. the toyo could be 25.7 or so. you get the idea

sorry i forgot. if you DO this i would say run the less traction tires in the back. this will help understeer and if the backs slip out before the fronts it will help alot with your turn in. At what level of driving are you at?

2 different tires will be unpredictable... I would NOT recommend doing that in a high performance/racing environment where your safety is detrimental.

I was planning on doing a 20 minute track session in new hampshire this monday. I have 225-40/18 toyo proxes 4s in the front, and 225-40-18 kumo ecsta asx in the back. Would this be ok? They're on 18x8.5 wheels.

Not a good idea. As said before, I will make your car unpredictable. I'm speaking from experience (on the street, never mind the track) and know others who have had bad experiences also.

yeah, as i and others say you car will not react in the manner that you will know what is happening. just ask yourself this. Is your life worth 500 dollars? maybe a bit dramatic but i have seen some messed up shit at the track.

Ditto Louis and Rough! We (www.MVPTrackTime.com) had a driver skimp on tires at a track day recently (they were new street tires, but it turns out not high quality). He put the car into a wall. Totalled it!

As said before... its is unpredictable. Even on the street its unpredictable w/ bad weather conditions or evasive maneuvers on the road not to mention track driving.
