Strange Squeak
My 2006 Avant has always had this squeak-chirp problem in the cabin. Just recently I had it in for service and asked them to look for it. They of course told me they couldn't hear it.
The problem is that I only hear it occasionally when driving normally. When I open the sunroof it gets really bad. Any bump in the road makes it squeak. Its easist to hear on city streets between 25-35mph. It sounds as if its coming from the rear seats or farther back but because it only happens when the sunroof is open I told the service manager I thought it was the sunroof that was squeaking. The only thing I can come up with if its not the sunroof itself is that (1) opening the sunroof changes the stiffness in the car and allows the car to flex more, (2) opening the sunroof somehow changes the sound dynamics of the car and applifies the sounds coming from the rear of the cabin up front. (3) I'm crazy. The dealer assumes its (3).
Anyone else experince this maybe? Got some suggestions to track it down.
I've tried, folding the seats down and removing the cargo cover. still sqeaks with the sunroof open.
