    Weird Knocking ... help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been hearing this weird knocking sound on the passenger side of my car; knocking sound gets faster as I accelerate. When I hit the brake the knocking stops, when I'm idle the knocking stops... it only makes the sound when I'm driving. Its not coming from the engine and when I get out of the car I can't locate the sound. Does anyone know what this might be? thanks guys!

    Re: Weird Knocking ... help

I had a knocking sound from my passenger side rear brake. Forgot since audi warrantied it but I think it was a combo problem with the caliper/rotor. Also check your suspension linkages.

This sounds like the same kind of problem I've been having. It only does it at low speeds, but I don't really feel anything through the brake pedal. I think I'm going to change my pads and see if I can get the rotors turned this weekend.

Will do. Hopefully I'll get a chance this weekend. If not, it'll be next weekend...

    Re: Weird Knocking ... help

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, but I finally figured out where my noise was coming from. I changed the rear pads as the rotors seemed okay, was still getting the noise. But I noticed when I had my rear wheels off that both tires were badly worn, one clear down to the steel belts. Needless to say I needed new tires. Got a full set of Goodyear Eagle F1 AS Tuesday and NO MORE SOUND!! Finally, it was really starting to get on my nerves.

might be CV boot cut then led to CV axle failure(lacking grease).
