    Eibach "Pro-Sytem" Review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I would like to throw this out there for those thinking about lowering kits since not many here (I think I can count on one hand) have this setup.

I swapped out my stock sport suspension with the Eibach "Pro-Sytem". I put the name in quotes because Eibach doesn't really make a spring+strut kit for a Quattro A4. What I did was I bought the Pro-Kit springs for a 1.8T quattro and the Pro-Damper struts for a 1.8T FWD.

Ground to fender height with stock USP wheels and 235/40/18 tires is 25.25" all around. The stance looks just about like this

I say "just about" because the picture above had only the Pro-Kit springs with the stock struts. But after installing the Pro-Damper struts, the ride height dropped ever so slightly that you wouldn't really notice. I'd put a guesstimate of about 1/16 to 1/8 inch. No, I don't believe it will settle anymore since the Pro-Dampers do not use high pressure gas for dampening (like say... Bilstein). In fact, I can contract and extend the strut with my bare hands when they were still off the car. And also note that I have already had the Pro-Kit springs for almost a year... so those are done settling.

So how does it ride? Simply put... AMAZING. My car rides better than my buddy's A4 with stock sport suspension. You know that jarring feeling when you go over an ill-conceived manhole cover or good sized potholes and/or dips? They're gone! Yeah... this thing absorbs all of that flawlessly. Yet when you push your car around the corner, it is much more stable than the stock suspension. I believe this is because of the "progressive" rate of the springs. The more you push it, the stiffer they become.

I don't know why Eibach doesn't make struts for the quattro, but really... I don't think they need to. The FWD struts work like a charm on my car.

And the best part? The whole kit cost me less than $500. I got the springs used for $180 shipped from a user here and the struts brand new for $310 shipped from Auto Anything (<<-- best price I found anywhere on the net). Even if you buy the springs new they would only be $225 shipped.

Just another suspension setup to think about!

Nice, I wouldn't have expected it to ride better than the stock sport suspension. I have H&R/Bilstein set-up and it way too stiff and bouncy when I hit big potholes.

Great review. I have just the springs and getting the pro dampers too. I kicked around the idea of getting some coilovers but I think the Eibach system will be just fine. Are you going to post a pic of your current ride height?

So overall, how much did this drop you from sport susp. height? Like 3/4" - 1"? Looks great!

Why would you want to pay all that money to go from sport sus to Eibach Style suspension in which you cant ever tell a difference in ride height at all?

What do you mean? I definitely dropped from my OEM sport suspension... about 3/4" I'd say. That picture is of the drop before the struts, but the springs were in already.

But thanks for the compliments! My car currently looks just a lil bit different cosmetically.

maybe because he cares about the ride also? call me crazy but not everyone wants/needs a car that's dumped. Just an opinion.

Adi your drop is almost identical to where diztek has his Stasis Streets set. which imo is the perfect ride height. I can't wait to get mine now, thanks again for the info and posting the pics.

Well... they should be! Since we are both measured at 25.25" all around.

Car does look really good AudiAdi. Has anyone installed just the Eibach Pro Spring Kit itself without doing the dampers as well?

I have the springs with non-sport shocks. I wouldn't recommend it, the ride is fairly rough.

Thanks for the heads-up. Maybe I will just have to save up for a complete coilover kit instead.

Anyone wanna buy a Honda CRF250?

If you like that drop above and don't need to dump your car then you could always just get the springs/dampers. That's what I'm doing. I like the stance and don't need my car any lower. And the price is right

    Pardon my ignorance but:

Are shocks and struts the same?

I have the Eibach Pro-kit springs on with everything else stock sport (B6). I wanted to make the ride a little smoother, would adding the aforementioned struts help even if I've been on these springs for 20K miles?

I loved this side by side comparison.. I've been going back and forth b/w something conservative like Eibach and something a little more aggressive like H&R/Bilstein. After seeing AudiAdi's height next to a set of SS coils, I'm sold on the Eibach...

AudiAdi - just curious.. why did you go with the FWD setup as opposed to the Quattro kit? I wasn't aware you could do something like that for our Q's.. did you run into any problems during install/drive comfort?

    stock sport
    1. That difference is barely noticible.

    2. The Eibach package requires springs and shocks that aren't designed for each other. The FWD setup does not even have the same weight distribution as the quattro.

I'm sure it rides softer, because even a properly matched Eibach Pro Kit setup would be much softer than the stock sport--this is probably worse since the shocks are designed for a lighter version of the car.

I'd bet my savings the stock sport handles much better.

You mean the Pro-Kit springs aren't matched to the Pro-Kit dampers? Why would Eibach release a spring/damper set as a kit and have them not match each other?

Because the poster is using dampers for the FWD 1.8t with the springs for the quattro. There is a noticible weight difference and bias in the two cars.

I have been through this exact same debate before....look at all shocks for our cars, there is no distinction between quattro and fwd.

quattro and fwd distinction only matters for springs, not shocks as far as i know.

thats why this person used fwd shocks, yet he used quattro springs.

^yup. look at bilstien and koni shocks for the FWD and quattro 1.8t drivetrain...same part number.

im not sure why eibach doesnt release these as quattro as well, but im sure if they did release quattro shocks, they wouldnt be too much different.

Yeah those are the ones he got , I believe. You can search autoanything.com coupons , they run a 10 percent off special, like once a month. That's the info Adi gave me. I'm getting them too.
Edit: here's the link Adi previously sent me. He checked daily until the sale came up as he wasn't in a great hurry to get them. he also said the sale often only lasts for one day.
