    Vibration from Engine

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    I have B6 1.8T Tip.
When the car is idle, I can feel some vibration. Especially when it is cold out there, it gets worse. A few months ago, if it was warm, about 65+, I was not able to feel the vibration. However, now I can feel it even if it is like 70s.

I still have the warranty and I do have the extended warranty, so I tried to fix it at the dealer. I thought it is a engine mount problem, but the dealer told me they cannot feel anything from the car. Yes, I can be sensitive, but it is getting worse.

Can anyone give me an advice? what do i have to do? lol

With Vag-com, there isn't any false code.
I really want to fix it.

Just wondering. Is this common with any automatic? or is this just Audi?

You're not alone. My car does the same thing. I've been on other Audi forums and have heard of the same problem and no solution. I don't know why, but if this is "how they're made" Audi should have had some solution to it to back up they're luxury image...imo. Let me know if u happen to find an answer to this cause I sure have tried and failed...

That is what I am saying. I'm not driving Kia, and the car gets like this in 3~4 years. I used to have Passat 1.8T before A4, and it did the same thing. I bought the passat as used one so I though the previous owner treated the car suck. After driving A4 for a while, same problem kicked up, and search tool confirmed that many people face the same problem. What about other Audi's? 3.0 engines? A6s, TTs? Do they do the same thing after a few years? Wonder whether MB and BMW do the same thing after a few years.

    it is just annoying

    Re: Vibration from Engine

Did you check the engine/tranny mounts. Maybe one of them has failed. Also, if you have a slight vacuum leak, that will cause it too.

    Re: Vibration from Engine

Vibration at idle is normal for a4's. Both my B5 and B6 had it. The idle speed is set by the manufacture for emissions reasons.

lets all get together and write audi a mass letter and demand they put their heads together and figure his problem out. Iam sure on highly trained Audi tech can solve this vibration issue by why when it cost plenty of $$$$ to fix this issue. we will pay it because we love our audi's, oh yeah my car vibrate's too.

Can't you use the VAG-COM to set the idle speed a little higher? I seem to remeber reading that somewhere here on AZ. My 1.8T vibrates at idle as well, but once i bump it up even a few rpms with the throttle, it smooths right out.

I was going to try this week - any DIY or anyone know where to go on VAGCOM to set the idle speed?

I moved my idle speed via vagcom by about 30 rpm's lower and changed the front snub with an apikol one, i did this in the summer and there was little to none vibration, now that it's cold out it vibrates like a mutha. I think it has to do with temp also.

As I work for a dealer. Past 3 years almost every single A4 1.8 we had with automatic transmission had that problem. Currently we have 2 that are with manual transmission and they have zero to very little vibrations. Tested cars ( by me ) had between 25,000 to 80,000 miles.

My '03 1.8 also have that problem and mechanic told me that he "thinks" engine mounts are bad but they look fine from the outside.
I can have both for $100 and will replace them by myself when it gets warmer. Will see if that's the problem.
