    Stock Sline shocks or Billsteins?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im not sure what to do......i have H&R springs with stock s-line shocks. I thought it was a good set up, until i rode in my friend's billstein's C/O's...what a difference!

i can get the Billstein shocks shipped for $440.00 US.....but cash is a bit tight right now

    Is it worth it?

You guys think i could sell my S-line spring and shocks to subsidize the purchase?

    input is appreciated.

S-line suspension is the same as any other sport suspension... it's nice stuff, though.

I've swapped from 02 sport suspension to bilstein sports, and while handling has definitely improved, I find the ride to be a bit harsh with the bilstein shocks. Not overly rough... but definitely quite stiff. I preferred commuting with my stock setup... Now, the bilstein coilovers (PSS9's) are very adjustable... so you can make them ride comfortably, and then crank them up for a day at the track. Definitely a great option, but quite expensive.

Pardon me if i've mistaken something, but are you possibly mixing up coilovers (you mentioned C/O's) with just springs and shocks?

I could be wrong, but if your friend has Bilstein actual coilovers and not just a spring/shock combo, then they should cost 3 times as much as the shocks you quoted and come with springs of their own, height/damping adjustability, and a much stiffer (and arguably a more enjoyable) ride.

I could have missed something but I don't want you to just get Bilstein "shocks" only and not feel any performance difference and feel like you've wasted money.

Re: Stock Sline shocks or Billsteins?

You can probably get $200 for your stock sport suspension. The $240 difference is very much worth it if you already have H&R springs. Personally, I think the OE sport suspension sucks and I think it's a mistake to put lowering springs to a stock shock, then again, I'm not one to cut corners. If you do it, don't forget to get the car aligned after.

I rather pay $440 for the shocks than fork out 1100 on C/O's and have to go thru selling two used parts, instead of 1.

    but thanx for the offer
