Santa Monica Audi scum-bags and my S5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just want to let you all know about my little adventure with those cheats.
I ordered a "hot" Audi S5 Tip 6 months ago and my mistake - didn't sign a contract.
But got a confirmation e-mail with a price - MSRP - as you can't get any discount
on this brand new model at the moment. Commission number with my name etc.
The car showed up and it looks stunning. They noticed they can get somebody
to pay over sticker. So at the very last moment, without ever any trace of doubt
about the price before - they asked me to pay 10 grand over.
They acted like the worst scum-bags trying to pull a little quick profit -
who cares about a loyal Audi customer.
The guy's name is Abtin Navab - an internet salesman at Santa Monica Audi.
His boss - the general manager there - is even worse - a typical mafioso...
I discovered since they did it many times before, even my neighbor got screwed
    by the very same guy!
I obviously walked away. Contacted Audi of America and have a case already.
    Will keep you posted.

I posted the story on audiworld and there are guys who were
    offered my car already!

That sucks to hear because you were probably really excited too once you heard the car had arrived. So sad and shady that dealerships do this and lose loyal customers just to make a little more money.

I wouldn't say the dealership is going to end up losing a customer, they just won't end up making that extra money. (and they'll get looked at by AoA)

Did you post this on other car forums rather than here? If not, please do it so that no one will buy cars from that dealer!

Re: Santa Monica Audi scum-bags and my S5

That's really unfortunate, bad business practice and generally a shitty thing to do to your fellow man.

But.........why am I not surprised at what happened?

You didn't sign anything and didn't put down a deposit (unless you forgot to mention that), so really you guys were just having a conversation about cars and then you expect the salesperson to honor that?
Call me cynical, but (many of) the sales staff at stealerships are not there to look out for your best interests. And they try double hard to gouge the unexpected or inexperienced.

You did the right thing by walking away from it and letting the forums and AoA know about your experience. But next time get it in writing and drop a deposit. You cannot expect them to commit if you don't.

Yeah Abtin is a douche bag, he used to work at Beverly Hills Audi. FUCK that guy.

Same dealership that was selling a salvaged Oettinger A3, and wouldn't disclose the info to the buyers.

Re: Santa Monica Audi scum-bags and my S5

    Dude,

If you have an e mail from Mr. Navab that indicates that your order is going to be at MSRP plus tax and license and consult legal help, this constitutes a contract in writing and is legally binding. If they are just playing games at this point, then they will back down easily, AoA will probably not do much in this case, as its a pricing issue, and the factory CANNOT control pricing. If there was an "understanding" then you are dead in the water, no verbal contracts are honored in CA. "But you said" means nothing unless A) they wrote it down, dated it and signed it, or b) it was recorded. This is coming from outside looking in with the limited knowledge of the law that I have to deal with on a daily basis, good luck, but if it were me, I probably would not buy the car from them at this point, as there may be some added "extras" that you would not like. Sorry for the horrible experience, nobody deserves that.

Re: Santa Monica Audi scum-bags and my S5

    ^^^ LOL

Seriously dude, you did the right thing to walk away.

And if you feel like giving it to them a bit, take that email to a good lawyer and have him/her look it over... see what kind of hassle you can drum up for the stealership. If that doesn't pan out, I'd go to the news! They love a good scam story like that!!! The bad press will hurt them way more than posting it on the forums (which I salute you for, but we mostly know of the shady dealers, and news reaches people who could be potential buyers).

Sorry about the bad luck though, and hope you get a sick S5 soon! When you do, post some pics for us to drool over!
