I got the fronts all done, But for the rear exactly what part of the seat do you have to take off to get to the upper mount? And is it necessary to replace the gasket on the upper mount?

First fold the seats down forward, then you have to slide the little leather pieces off to the side, between the door and the edge of the seats. There's a little piece of foam jammed in there that you have to yank out, and the strut is right there. I'm not sure what gaskets you're talking about though.

nvm got it pretty much i had to take out the bottom seats first, it seems like the previous owners lost some tool there was a ratchet and some knives under the seat.

yup. just do like he seed. i also have a FWD A4 and done my coilovers install several times to adjust the settings. i never replaced my gaskets and dont recall seeing any gaskets. when you pull out the foam you will see two nuts holding a cup. well when you start undoing any of the bolts on the top put a jack under the suspension. what i did was i used a jack and placed it under the shock. yes i did raise it a bit too. this way it will not prevent any pressure when your undoing the bolts from the top. its really easy.
