prefacelift: what is under the ebrake handle?

okay its been bugging me for a while.

we have two HORRIBLE cup holders, and then an uncovered "tray" that looks like it is inside out (with part numbers and junk on it) and then a "box" that looks like it has another box in it...dunno

anywho i picked the box out of the console and theres a wire / cable running to it....????

wtf is that....


also its been a while since ive been in a facelift, but am i wrong in thinking that there are real cup holders in that spot for them?

Bingo. Phone line to the armrest where you could hook up your carphone waaaaay back in the day when they were cool.

Yup. I cut mine off. It bugged me and I've pulled out my center console a number of times, well, the last time it annoyed me for the last time. Only downside is that now the little cover that would go into the female phone jack now flops about.

I'm looking into integrating a Zune into my car with a possibilty of the Pioneer AVH5000DVD headunit. We'll see where that goes, BUT I was going to use that location, or inside the armrest to mount the Zune and some form of a reciever dock.

someone with fab skills should soooo make one that fits there!
