    <<Clunking noise when steering>>

Lately, when I steer the wheel to get into/out of a parking spot, it makes some kind of clunking/clicking noise. I'm not sure what it is. Only happens when I have to steer tight but not when I'm cruising normally. It's really obvious specially in the morning. Any ideas???

    Re: <<Clunking noise when steering>>

Mine does it too, and I'm also low.

If your regular ride height, or it's louder than normal (hard to discribe normal I suppose) then I'd check tie rod ends and cv-joints to make sure they are not torn or oozing/spraying greese.

Power steering pump? They tend to make ugly noises when turned full lock. I try not to do that, I just assume that ugly noises = bad.

CV-joint if it clunks and u feel it through ur steering wheel or brake pedal then thats what it is! and especially if u sometimes hear it torwue like an old sail boat rocking and the wood creaking then this is ur problem!

    Re: <<Clunking noise when steering>>

Because the car has been lowered so much, the CV joints on your axles are now at a tighter angle, causing more stress on it. If improperly lubricated or cracked (at the boot), you'll hear clunking noises. If your CV joints are okay, also take a look at your control arms. The arms on our cars are WEAR items and should be replaced at 80k-100k. I would also say tie rods, but if your steering feels tight w/out any play, it's most likely not it.
