    REVO Stg. 3 Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey - I figure that someone on here who knows considerably more about the file than me should be able to answer this... (preferably anyone who is a dealer, or works for REVO, but any input would be great)

Having finally completed my turbo install, I went to get flashed today, and the guy hooks everything up - then says that there isn't a file for my specific ECU box. He claims it'll just take a couple days for REVO to set it up for my car... and then I can get flashed. I didn't argue - but to me that sounded like a bunch of bullshit.... Just wondering if there's any truth to what he said, or if it's all lies.

His explanation for the situation was that since stage 3 flashes aren't as common as stage 1/2 REVO didn't take the time to make one for each specific ECU box, and that there wasn't a file for my car. Idk, it just seems like he was giving me the "I don't feel like doing this right now" and sending me on my way... And if he was I've got a couple phone calls to make.

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

thats what i was thinking... only problem is that hes the only revo dealer in wake county, and i don't want to drive an un-tuned car an hour and a half to the next nearest shop, nor can i afford the down time of mailing off my ECU.

this guy also doesn't keep regular business hours, and works almost exclusively by appointment... which makes follow up support a nightmare. sounds like i may have to give george a call about this...

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

i'd love to go back and get flashed, i guess im just worried about this guy's business practices in general. for instance - if i were to have some type of problem with the software, this guy is the only one within an hour and a half of my house that i could go to for help...

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

true. i just cant decide between revo and unitronic.... uni seems to be a MUCH better file, with much better potential to make power.. (look at timing graphs from revo, and timing graphs from uni - amongst other things)

but idk if i can swing the 200 extra for unitronic over revo, not to mention sell my 440's for 550's, and get a 3" MAF

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

Why not talk to Ian at Absolute and try to convince his boss to do a custom file for you? Just a suggestion since they are in NC and you are in NC.

Yes, another alternative is to go with Unitronics through 034. Or go with ASP. Or send in your ECU to Eurocode for the REVO flash.

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

^The thought crossed my mind to go up to absolute, I've been meaning to go by the shop for awhile now anyways.

And there's a unitronics dealer about 10 minutes away from my house... they used to be a revo dealer, but got screwed out of it by the guy who is the current dealer in the area (long story...) anyways, he said that the file is done for my ECU and he should have it tomorrow. So i guess I'm sticking with REVO

    Re: REVO Stg. 3 Question

now this guy is saying that my car has to pass an OBD-II readiness scan before the software can be loaded??? He said everything with the exception of cat efficiency must pass.... and i already un-hooked my secondary air. anyone know if that's true? I've never heard this from anyone and its really starting to irk me.

I'd call Revo and tell them the story. See what they say.
