How to Remove the Glove compartment?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

I am looking to play with the RNS radio & I will need to run some wires from the trunk to the Nav. I want to go down the passenger side. How do I pull hte glove compartment latch so I can have more room to work?

    Thanks,
    Rich

Open the glove box door...there are 3 bolts under the dash trim piece.

Take off the instrument panel on the side...there are 2 more there

There are 2 or 3 more underneath the glove box in the footwell area.

    I think they're 5/16" bolts.

    Go get 'em.

I am sitting in front of my A4 looking at this. I see the top & bottom ones.

I dont see the instrument panel. Where should I see this if i am sitting in the passenger seat?

I also have an Ipod adapter. Do I unscrew the two screws as well?

    Thanks,
    Rich

You have to remove the ipod adapter... IIRC, pull it straight back towards you and it will just pop out. There is one bolt behind it and to the left. Sort of hard to see here:

Additionally, you also need to remove the one on the right compartment (already removed in this picture)

I think Buttafuoco is referring to the panel on the passenger side that you pop off, just like the fuse panel on the drivers side.

I take it your running the cable from the antenna on the roof to the nav ... It would have been easier to just mount a GPS antenna behind the instrument cluster.. thats just my opinion of coarse.

So the ipod adapter just pulls out? I see the bolting locations in your photo, but I dont see that within the Ipod "tray" in the glovebox. Should I literally just pull it out (as I dont see the bolts)?
