01087 fault code for AC system

Since I purchased my car, it's always read in deg. celcius and not deg. fahrenheit.

I read how to switch it over to fahrenheit & that procedure worked but only until the next time I restarted the car.

Used a VAD.com to check for trouble codes and it came up with...

01087: Basic Setting not performed

Is there some kind of special procedure I need to do to set the "Basic Setting"?

Any idea's on what else might be wrong? I should add that the previous owner did replace the OE stereo system with a newer kenwood system and I'm not sure how professionally that was done or if that's what's causing this problem since everything else works ok including the stereo.
