How hard is it to replace a gear in the tranny????

I'm a full hands on person, i do all work myself....I've replaced the clutch and flywheel in my last b6, so i have no problem taking the tranny out. I have access to all presses and tools needed to do the job. But how hard is it really to replace a gear???

My first gear is shot, it clicks really loud when going through first gear, my guess is a chipped tooth.

Anyone have any insight on this?? My car is out of warranty, so that is not even an option, and neither is bringing it to the dealer and paying them to do it ha,

    Thanks

Do you have an instruction manual for doing it?

I did it on my WRX for the 4th gear, and I was able to do the work. It sounds like you have pretty similar experience to what I had prior to doing the work.

If you are willing to be patient and have the instructions, I would say go for it.
