Re: Anyone have a good Car Alarm they can recommend?

I remember in my Honda days... clifford was an higher end alarm company but now their product and prices seem to be the same as everyone else. Does any company really standout? also, anyone know a honest alarm shop in the ny/nj/ct area? Most i've seen look shady!

I might know that shop if its in ozone park. haven't been there in over 10years.

I'm being very cautious because 5 years ago, they busted a ring of car thefts in Newark, NJ and the detectives leaked out that a portion of the members were auto stereo/alarm installers from Brooklyn/Queens and central NJ

No one seems to have mentioned the Viper alarm system. I remember back in high school that was considered the shit! Are they bad now? I can get them at a pretty damn good price through a friend at Best Buy.

Re: Anyone have a good Car Alarm they can recommend?

The viper doesn't have an auto start built for manual trans cars where the compustar does, that's what got me interested otherwise I prob wouldve put my old viper auto start in the audi

Yep I"m pretty happy with mine except I haven't really played with it that much to find out everything it could do. Everyone I talked to said it's either Viper or Compustar. When I told them it was manual they automatically said go with Compustar. Initially I was only going to go with the 1-way transmitter, but then changed my mind and went with the 2-way. This way if I'm inside somewhere and get the message someone is messing with my car I'm dropping everything and running outside. Security, Remote start and Turbo Timer is what I was really after. I got mine done at Mobile Werks in Jersey if you want to give them a shot. Great bunch of guys I've been dealing with Jimmy for years.

Viper/Clifford are from a company called DEI.. They make great stuff.. The added features of the compustar are nice..but try and find a compustar remote if you need an additional or with many installers with experience installing them. What ever alarm you decide to get..make sure you check out how they install it. you want it military spliced in and soldered...make sure they dont use wire taps...and make sure they tape it all up when they are done....

I have a Viper but i want a compustar... All I can say is if you want a good alarm dont cheap out spend then money because its well worth it than having your car stolen. there is also a few other security measures you could you can do, I came up with an amazing idea but im not going to share with the world because I believe i'm the only one that came up with it.

    http://www.compustar.com/main.htm

There you go man check it out for yourself and see which one fits your wants, needs and of course your cash flow. I went with the CompuStar Pro P2WSSR because they gave it to me at a really good price and I liked what it offered.
