I just picked up a set of Riken Raptor ZR tires for my summer 18" rims (235/40R18). I've only had them a short period of time, but so far they live up to other reviews I've seen (there isn't many). They are definatley an improvement in dry handling/traction over my stock P6's (235/45r17) and Winter setup (Bridgestone LM-22's in 255/40r17). I haven't been able to try them out in the rain yet (but reviews were very favorable in wet weather). I got them at
http://www.savontires.com for $378 shipped. They are made by Riken in conjunction with Michelin and if you have a budget, you can't beat the price and good reviews (although not many).
For other tires, I've been very happy with Nitto NT555R's or BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires for dry/wet roads; although not on my Audi. The Nitto's I've even run in light snow/ice/slush on a RWD Mustang and was very impressed that I still had traction.
I've used several Falken and Bridgestone ponenza tires and have been LESS than impressed (as far as summer/performance tires go) for how much some of them are.
