    Torx screw/bolt for headlamps:

"I tried finding a long enough torxdriver to remove/losen the third screw. So far, no luck. Bumper removal (as stated above) may be the best bet. But if it's just your headlight that's aimed wrong, you can adjust that. But if the bulb is sitting wrong, then yeah you need to seat it properly."

Can anyone describe where the third torx screw/bolt is located can it be seen looking down at the headlamp with the hood open?

    Re: Torx screw/bolt for headlamps:

You can see it sticking up to the left side by the fender. There's a little hole directly above it for access. I was able to loosen it with a long extension for a 1/4 inch drive socket (10 or 12 inches) -- all the 3/8 inch socket extenders were too fat to fit in the hole.

I took a look at it this afternoon but I could not see down the hole. I tried poking an extension down through the hole but it wouldn't even go down past a 1/4in. Not sure if it was the wrong hole but it was the on the fender....any more advice about this?

    Re: Torx screw/bolt for headlamps:

    Can anyone say --

    1. what size torx bit is needed (I think it is T25), and
    2. how long the shaft of the screwdriver needs to be

to get at the torx screw inside the fender, for removing the headlamp assembly?

I need to get one of these screwdrivers and I don't want to buy and find out that it is too short.

    Amazon.UK

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/..._ya_oh_product

You need an address in Europe because they don't deliver to the US

^^^ Sorry but the tool shown DOES NOT WORK WITH XENONS !!!
You can't stick the rachet shown on your pictures on the back of an Halogen headlight but you can't with Xenons because the housing is much bigger. You have to go thru the fender hole and the rachet don't fit.
    Trust me on this one

    Re: Torx screw/bolt for headlamps:

    Thanks for trying though, ringofsteel.

An a HUGE thank you to fly300kts for the length of the shaft needed and just as importantly, the correction on my assumption that T25 was needed. That was based on the T25 that was used on the exposed screws. Stupid me for thinking that Audi would use the same screw head for all three!!

Now I have to source a T30 screwdriver that has at leasta 7 in shaft. The dealer has a nice one (the SA is the one who loosened this screw in the first place) so I could borrow theirs but I really should get my own.

Since I don't have a Europe address, I will have to look elsewhere, e.g.

T30 XLong Torx Tool Mercedes VW AUDI BMW VOLVO CAR AUTO

fly300kts -- if you think this will do the job then I will buy it.
