oh no, oil pressure warning light and fault code!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i got a diagnostic done by NGP Racing today (i was up there getting my stage 1+ done), and i had one fault code, it was "16395 - BANK 1:CAMSHAFT A (INTAKE): RETARD SETPOINT NOT REACHED (OVER ADVANCED) P0011 - 002 - LOWER LIMIT EXCEEDED - INTERMITTENT" and shortly after that on my way home, my oil pressure light would come on for a couple of seconds and then go off. i have immediately parked it....

    any thoughts?

Depends how many clicks you have. A certain amount were done by audi, and then after your warranty is over you need to retain the receipts yourself.

I bring the oil and filter to the old Toyota dealer that I use to deal with and the oil change costs $18 and it's in their hands if the engine FU.
When my motor went, Audi had all the documents from the previous owner and I called Toyota to fax the rest. I agree with doing things yourself, but something so cheap, leave the responsibility in others hands.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're SOL. Better hope it's not serious. If it was the yellow oil light, you may have a prayer, if it was red, not so much. Good luck.

All you need is the receipt for the filter and the syn oil

If you know a mechanic friend...go to them, and get them to make you some phony receipts that you did the oil change there. By the looks of it, youd need a about 4 to be safe.

Lorvar - i like to do my own work, it is my zen to be in my garage and working on my car. I am not SOL, have plenty of money to fix whatever happened, no worries there.

AudiPotential - i am currently looking for two other reciepts, i got some of the stuff online from ECS Tuning so i just will get a print out from them. if Audi covers it great! if not @#$% them and i will of course upgrade =)

Re: oh no, oil pressure warning light and fault code!

thats what i am thinking, stroking it (hehe), and having the heads worked a bit. put it all back together with ARP fasteners etc.

any ideas how to make sure this doesnt happen again? i know Audi recommends a bigger oil filter (which i use) and dont say change oil because i do (almost too often) at 3500mi intervals with high grade syn oil. is this a flaw with the oil pan or something?

Judging by the post, it looked like you needed an opinion or thought. This is why I don't like responding on these boards, people come back with a pissing match comments. Good luck with your outcome, whether you have millions or not.

I notice youre using Royal Purple. I asked my Audi specialist if he recommends Royal purple and he said that its not the right class for the 1.8T and he got me on he motul.

Id do the proper maintenance with the valve cover gasket so you could get an idea if youre getting sludge build up then you can run an engine treatment if need be.

Really its the high temperature from the turbo thats a big issue.

Who says they dont? hehe. Its for the 1.8T in general.

for filter I use the Mann filter the black one that audi uses and ECS sells but basically doesnt have the audi rings on it.

    for oil...
