    Took off my bumper... Curious...

    Hello fellow A6 owners...

I'm currently following a guide for a clear corner mod from AW: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext44.shtml. Now I'm at the stage where I have the bumper sitting on a nice little custom bumper holder that i crafted from some smashed cases of beer. Had to slam like 6 just to get through half of the process of taking the bastard off.

Anyway, I'm at this point where I'm sitting here looking at it thinking, "Hm.... I've come this far, I wonder what I can do now that I have this off............"

I personally don't know about that many DIY mods, but I did find this: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=1#post2247467. This would also make it easier to do the clear corners, but I wanted to check and make sure that the blackened mod wouldn't affect the efficiency of my headlights. I also wanted to inquire about what it takes to convert to HID lights (really i just need to know what parts i need, or if i need whole new headlamps)

Any other suggestions are more than welcome. I'd also like to replace my headlight-washer-covers (they currently are not flush to the bumper and it makes me a little sad)

    Thanks in advance!!

    -Chris

Re: Took off my bumper... Curious...

I'd actually LOVE to do that, but I have a feeling that might be more work than I'm willing to get involved with... I need to do it within the next 20k miles, and after taking the bumper off once, I won't have a problem doing it again. I would definitely consider it though -- how much is a good quality kit? Is it a very difficult procedure?

Also, some guys in the Pittsburgh thread suggested a snub mount a while ago... Would that be a relatively easy procedure?

Lastly, is there a good source for me to go to for guides and such? I feel bad asking so many questions and bothering people. I have been meaning to pick up the Bentley manual, but I didn't know if that would help with aftermarket parts like anything from APR (or would APR include installation instructions?)

    Thanks so much so far!

    Hey all,

as an update, I'm currently blacking out some of the head lamp... Now that I have this apart, I'm heavily considering putting an LED strip as shown here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205172. The only issue I have is that I'd want to be able to turn them off and on depending on my whim. The author of the guide tapped into the parking lights, and I'm thinking of tapping in somehow to the rear fog switch... Is there any decent way of doing this?

Let me know if I should ask that question in a different forum.

    Thanks!

I would suggest running the wires from the LED strip to the inside of the car & putting a switch inside the car to turn them off and on

Yeah thats what I was thinking as a last resort. Seems like that would be the easiest way...

Eventually I'll pick up a wiring manual and try the rear fog light route.

On the original topic, does anyone have any additional suggestions for mods or anything? Still considering the snub mount if it isn't too too much.

    Thanks!
