    Optimal size for 20'' wheels

I ordered a set of 20'' 275/30 x 9.5'' all around as someone suggested on this forum that this is the optimal comfort setup for 20'' wheels. First, Im looking for daily drivability but also aggressive looks. Also someone mentioned that as the S5 is quattro you need to keep all four wheels the same size. So I really need expert advice on what is the most optimum setup for my car so that it compromise performance and comfort. (i realize that going 20s already loses some performance but the width of the tire also makes a difference too, no?) Also i have a 996 turbo and that thing is all wheel drive but im running 8.5'' in front and 11'' in the rear and that is recommended factory stock setup. So it doesnt make sense to me why you need to keep all four wheels the same size with the S5. Some real insights would be very much appreciated. thanks

275/30 on a 9.5 inch wheel is going to be perfect. I have 275/30 on a 10" wheel and there is a bit of stretch to the sidewall.

If you are getting forged wheels, performance will increase because of the loss of mass and unsprung weight. The downside is you obviously lose a fraction of speed based on your overall larger diameter setup.

The 275/30 sidewall provides a good degree of comfort and is not harsh at all. Anything over a 3" sidewall and you are good to go. Your setup will be a few millimeters over 3". The ride will be more firm and taut but it will definitely be manageable....

I've fitted RS6 275/35/20's to my S5 and ride comfort is possibly better than the stock wheels.

You're normal to assume that the factory set up is identical on all four wheels.

There's plenty of guy's who've successfully fitted staggered set ups

Did you lower your car and would you happen to have any pics? I'm interested in seeing how 275/35/20 fills in the sidewall.

Haven't lowered yet but plan to install 1" lower springs. I'm expecting a much firmer ride if I go to 285/25/20's.

I guess you have to ask yourself the question, "does it look so bad up high with high profile tyres?" Next to a lowered A5/S5 my car looks really high but I think my car is easy to drive every day.

You should also remember that I have 15mm spacers all-round

I think it looks great the way it is.

The car I have right now is lowered 1" and I think it's a bit too low.

    How much lower is a stock S5 vs a stock A5 A-Line?
