Will the S4 suspension fit your 2,8L V6 A4 Avant quattro? Yes

Will it have any greater advantage over the correct set-up? No.

Will it have your car sitting at the right height? No.

    Will it improve handling? Maybe.

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

Well, I wanted to lower the car some, but I also need new front shocks, figured that if I can get a set of S4 struts and springs it will lower the car, and at the same time replace the struts.

So, S4 suspension will fit and will lower my car height over stock, correct? And how certain are we that the S4 suspension will fit my car?

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

it will actually raise it from what I've seen. What you should do is buy his shocks and struts, and then grab some H&R Race springs.

S4 stuff is strong enough to handle aggressive springs.

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

Bro, take it easy, I have used the search tool, but at the problem lies in that the god damn suspension fitment is an issue, there seems to be special suspension for the A4 avant quattro, example, 1.8t and 2.8 are different, and then.... pre 02-98 and later differ.... if you have an answer, please let me know, I just need to know if the S4 suspension from 2001 will fit avant 1998-04 2.8QM. By the way, does it matter if the S4 is an avant or sedan?

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

alright, it will raise the car? shit, so fitment is an issue, it doesnt fit then?

What if I just buy the springs? Am I going to kill my suspension?

You could also just get some coilovers... may be a little easier

i've posted about this countless times. avant is not special. it will raise the front. use the search function and people will stop making fun of you.

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

the struts are the same. i've run both. they cannot handle race (poser) springs any more than stock a4 red struts. s4 springs alone are the worst thing you can do. coilovers are overkill for street cars. did I miss anything.

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

likewise, onemoremile helped me confirm that sport suspension from a 1.8 should work on my 2.8 and that if anything the front will sit just a little lower. since sport suspension tends to be a little higher up front, maybe it will actually sit a little lower.

in the past people have said it's a big no no to run 1.8 sports on a 2.8, but i'll take the word of someone who's actually done it. i'll be sure to post my findings afterwards of course.

actually i was in the process of searching for if pre-facelift suspension is any diff than face-lift.

the stock sport i'm buying is off a 2000+ and i'm 2001, but i have a friend with 1.8 sport off a 98, would that work?

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

Im so terribly confused with the replied posts, one this one that.... and specify if the fitment is for avant or not, since there are differences with sedan and avant. Anyway, I ended up getting brand new koni's with H&R springs. Its a tight ride compared to previously, and I will be adding the bars to tighten it up some more...

Anyone want to buy a NOS 75hp kit? It hauls ass with the 2.8, even steven with the S4.

What are the differences between a sedan an avant?

I've got suspension from an S4 sedan coming. Something that hasn't been run here before.

So I found the right thread :D.

Anyway, so are you saying that S4 suspension is basically the same or is the same as A4 sport suspension? Would the ride height be the same for both, ie lower than oem non-sport?

I have a 98.5 2.8 QM and I think my suspension is getting to the end of it's life. My wife's A4 with sport suspension feels really good to me, and handles high-speed freeway bumps perfectly, while I'm left feeling like a bobble head with my oem non-sport.

I already have a different fast-car, I just want to tighten-up my daily so I'm curious what you recommend.

    Re: will S4 suspension fit?

    Nobody pays attention anymore...

The struts are the same. The springs are not. S4 springs on an A4 put the front end way up in the air. The stock S4 front is higher than a stock A4 sport front and is several hundred pounds heavier. Reduce the weight and it gets even higher.

Anyone that has driven a stock S4 won't want it's suspension. There is no advantage to running it.
