Know anyone with an LM1 wideband unit?
If so, hook it up run it and check and make sure everything is peachy, if it is, drive the snot out of it and dont look back.

As long as you have the turbo exhaust gaskets and stuff, dont worry. Just take the minor problems as they come one by one and you'll be up and running in no time.

3" downpipe and 3" exhaust is too big for a K04

I have heard this also, but i have to say i had a 3" test pipe on my chipped k03 with a borla exhaust/short shifter/modded air box. Before i had the 3" tp i ran consecutive 9.9-10.1 in the 1/8 mile, after the 3" tp i ran consecutive 9.6-9.7 and i was 97* when my times went down. Would loved to see what it would have done on a 40* day! Did i just have a freek, or is this normal?

    Re: mtm chip,k04...new install=nervous!!!!

Edit: you said down pipe, well i had whatever the borla had lol sorry. But defenetly get a test pipe, huge difference!!! Faster spool, hold boost longer, and also makes the 1.8t sounds pissed off!!!

i am running the mtm/ko4 setup. I got it from hoppen last year. I am running a labree HFC and I did a custom fmic as well. Did you change your plugs? I changed mine to Bosch FR5DP1, that were supplied from them. The only problem i have run into was that the plugs needed to be gapped and i did not know that so i had a missfire under high boost, other then that no problems. The setup runs strong and is a blast over a stock setup.

i did a similiar install on my car.

my advice, get new gaskets for everything. there are 3 exhaust gaskets you;ll need and then the o-rings for the banjo bolts on the turbo

Looking at the 2.5" DP on my '00 and the tip trans make sure everything is lined up properly. It is tight with the 2.5" in there. I have a hard time imagining the 3" DP not touching something.
Congrats on the MTM choice. (Not that our 018Q ECU had much of a choice)

I ran mtm stage 3 chip and k04 on my last tip. It was a blast to drive. Only problem was when cruising and hit the gas hard to downshift from 5th to 4th it would surge back and forth from 4th to 5th. Guessing to much torque for the trans. Never figured it out as I parted out the car 4 months later.

how so? backpressure is mostly irrelivant.. if he was going for a 3inch Test pipe.. then it would be a different story.. only real performance problem will be the obnoxious noise

Level Ten valve body, recode the TCU to 00032, took care of the problem for me. The GIAC Tip chip was of no help with that problem.
