BT Software: Custom Tune vs. Off the Shelf

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know a lot of peeps out there are running the Revo or Unitronic bt software. But has anyone done a custom tune ie (had a local shop modify a base map using a dyno), then flash the ecu? Pros, Cons?

just to be clear, i'm not taking about a stand alone system here...

Re: BT Software: Custom Tune vs. Off the Shelf

I have a custom tune. I've never dealt with an off-the-shelf tune. I prefer a custom tune.

Re: BT Software: Custom Tune vs. Off the Shelf

seems like the way to go. every set-up is different, tuning should be no different. although how good are the off the shelf programs at adapting to various set-ups?

A lot of it depends on the hardware you are using, for example the Revo tune was designed for a GTRS or 28rs in mind. This came word for word from a revo dealer I know who is suppose to be tuning my car next month. I'm just running a GTRS so don't feel that I need a custom tune.

if my setup gets done this summer, its over

and I will be running a custom tune, never did I understand why people "tweak" files when their cars are running COMPLETELY different setups than what the file was intended for

I'm not sure if your setup will count since you're going larger than a GT30.

Re: BT Software: Custom Tune vs. Off the Shelf

I'd prefer a custom tune to take advantage of the setup I have vs. a generic one but I don't have a lot of options where I am.

Time to do a road trip once I find a shop that can write a custom ME7 file.

I picked them up from the classifieds. Greg or Mike might be able to get them for you.

David Sarabi with Eurocode is the ASP West Coast Tuning Partner, I am pretty sure that between the two of them, it would not be and issue to get a ASP custom tune

That is true. I forgot that Eurocode is an authorized ASP reseller.

As with these other shops: http://autospeed.us/distributors.php
