    Also what different ways have you seen the power wires and audio run to the trunk?

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    Pioneer makes i decent sub, im fond of JBL's and or Alumapro's. As for the power wire it can be a few ways, Audis suck to get a 12v wire through the firewall, so instead if you take off the dash undernieth the steering wheel and look towards the back there should be a bunch of terminals to take 12v from, all the wires should be red, put a ring terminal on ur wire and put it on the terminal that has the biggest red wire b/c that wire runs straight from the battery.

    that sub isnt BAD at work we jsut put one of those in a custom box and paired it to the rear chanel of a pdx5... so about 300 rms and it sounded really good for a little 10...

    however if your looking for nice bass out of a thin woofer... wait till the new JL products are availble look on their website.. its basically the sound of a W6 in a thin woofer... it amazed me when i first heard it
    B5 A4 - silver [gone]

    Is it on the firewall or is on the side? Is it hard to reach?

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    i dont install i am a salesperson for car toys though.. so we went to vendor fair to learn about all their new products... it should be out by the end of this month or next month.. for that JL peice it might be aroound 600 bucks... and you will probably need a decent amp... i would run a jl 500/1 off of it. but yeah should be pretty soon... however if your looking for something in the factory location i dont think it will fit because i believe it is a 13" woofer... so you might consider building a false floor and making a custom box inwheel well if your looking to save space

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    Actually I'm just looking for enough Bass that I can feel it but not enough to shake my bolts loose. I was going to make a custom box in the golf bag cut out. like the one martini did. I figured that pioneer only needed 1/2 cubic foot of air so it would be the best for that small of space. And its cheap too.

    then there you go.. a nice custom box location is on the sides of the trunk to i had an isntaller build one jsut for fun... for a little 10" sub.. i dont know where it is though.. liek rightwhen you open the trunk and theres that little cubby to the right and left... on the right is a good custom box spot.. has to be out of fiberglass though

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    I can't speak to that sub, but I've never been a huge fan of Pioneer woofers. I picked up one of these for $50 shipped as an interim till I was able to get a JL 12W6v2-D4 later on. Turns out, I might not after all cause it performs very well. Bought it from sonicelectronix.com.

    Hifonics HFi 12D4
    12" Dual 4 ohms Subwoofer
    * Power Handling:
    o Peak: 600 watts
    o RMS: 300 watts
    * Sensitivity: 88 dB

    As for the install, I'd suggest going thru the firewall on the right side. It's far easier. Jeff has a great write-up on a4mods here. Remove the glove box and you're good to go... just make sure you have a ratchet extension or it'll be very difficult.

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    I was thinking about buying exactly that thin pioneer sub, but in the 8" size, and shoving it into the factory location.... but you already knew that (other active post right now)

    BUT!

    I'm a HUGE fan of the kicker solo baric subs. I know they have their skeptics, because they are square, but I've had nothing but fantastic luck with them. Anyway, the 8" can be run in only a .33 cubic foot box, and the 10" is only .66 cf. I'd take one of these to shove in the left cubby in a heartbeat! I think .66 would put the sub about flush with the wall of the trunk, .33 would allow you to sink the sub in a bit and cover it for a stealth look.
    Upgraded the motor a little, brakes a little more, and suspension a lot.

    Re: Speaking of subwoofers

    Hifonics makes really good products at a really nice price. I have a hifonics 1000 watt amp powering my rockford fosgate 12". I enjoy the set up I have. It hits pretty damn hard if you have the volume up and the sub to the highest.
