I know some people change it from up top, but i change mine from under the car so i don't make as much of a mess. It's very easy. I just use a strap wrench i bought from pep boys and loosen it, then do the rest by hand.

I put a milk jug (or similar) that is cut in half under the filter. It is a bit tricky to get back out...but dosen't make nearly as bad a mess. I also stretch a trash bag from directly under the filter to the drivers side wheel well to catch any spillage.
***This only works when the oil/engine is COLD.***

Oh, and any spillage only helps lubricate things/protect it from rust

Re: how do you chnage oil filter?

I did mine when installing my K04 last week for the first time ever. You just reach in there however u want (from the top or bottom) I had to reach from both since it was tight and I didn't have a strap tool. Then you fill up the new oil filter with some oil and screw it back on. Not hard at all and I'd never done an oil change on my own car before.

Re: how do you chnage oil filter?

First loosen the filter a bit and then put 2 grocery bags around it to catch the oil, minimizing the mess.

Re: how do you chnage oil filter?

Buy your own oil/filter and go to Jiffy Lube. You will get a receipt for the oil change with your VIN on it. This will come in handy later down the road.
