    Re: really bad creaking sound

    BAD. DEATH IMMINENT.

I've been driving on fucked control arms, tie rod ends, ball joints, and endlinks for quite some time now.

It rides like crap, and probably isn't the greatest thing in the world, but you should be fine.

Just try not to enjoy Quattro too much. IE grip drives/auto-x/track/etc.

control arm.. have someone get in ur car and turn the wheel back and forth. try to get your hand in there and feel for vibrations. put your fingers on all 4 control arms. the one that is vibrating more than others is the one that needs to be replaced. mine was the same way. ended up being the drivers side front lower control arm bushing..i replaced the whole control arm

    Re: really bad creaking sound

Such a great car with the control arm (and wheel bearings) achilles' heel. Buy a kit and save money because they will all go. They use a crappy grease in the ball joints and it dries out. Be careful-if you search, one or more people have had them completely seize and break in two pieces. I've noticed dusty job sites and snow melting chemicals do #'s on the lower c.a.s. Maybe crappy boot seals.
my old A4 1.8t---226k hard redlined miles -8000 mi oil changes. Chipped for 150,000 miles. Still going.
