Tinted Windows ticket in Des Plaines area

My freind just called me.
So he was driving on rand rd and cop pulled him over for having front tinted windows. He got those before a couple of times, but they were like $20 each and you could pay them in a Township. This one was a pink one, you had 3 choices:
1. Pay $75 and this gonna go on his record
2. PAy $115 + Traffic School --- it doesnt go on his record
3. Court Date

Anyone got any advices for him??? He definetaly doesnt want this ticket to go on his record, but paying $115 is kind of to much.

if his tints let in less than 70% of the light, he'll hafta pay up. Otherwise, have him contact a lawyer to see how to get his tints certified legal or whatever and take it to court. good luck!

um i'm pretty sure %30 is legal... that is so light. of course i'm from indianapolis.... in chicago i think the limit is 70% :-\ which is BS buuuuut if he gets a court date... and then goes to the eye doctor he can get a written note saying that he can have whatever window tint is necessary if he is "sensitive" to light. pretty good gig. I did that and had 5% tint all around and 20% on the entire windshield.

I got pulled over ALL the time... but I had a "Doctor's Note"... I even played the game harder by putting on sunglasses with all my windows up at dusk! Baha! they were like DAMN that must be serious!

The law in Illinois is you can have NO film tint on your drivers or passenger side window. You could put whatever you want on the rear windows.
I say just pay the ticket. Its only tint and its not a moving violation.

Thanks for the heads up as i work in Des Plaines. i got stopped in niles a couple weeks ago for my Tint and No plate told the cop i purchased the car like that and he let me go. Its Soo Fing annoying that every state has different rules

I did this on my old car.
Take a picture of the a car thats identical to yours, show it to judge. He says ok, you pay what ever fines and your good to go.
I only did this once like a couple years ago, so i dont know if it still works

just and FYI for everyone, doctors notes are no longer being accepted as excuses for tints. You need to go the the DMV and they have to "OK" it or something. i was gonna tint my windows and just carry around a doctors note, but i was told by several people/optometrists it doesnt work that way anymore.

That's the thing, it wasnt a FIX IT ticket, it was a pink slip (ticket) basically for speeding/no seatbelt.
I think he is gonna go to the Court house and find oout what are the options.

Ok we just went to Des Plaines Police... And found out he was given a Driving Violation State ticket for tinted windows :))) but not the City one which is USUALLY given for that.
Question:
If he decided to go to court, and will say it is his fault, will the Judge still put in on a record???

Tell him dont go to court. Now you have to pay the ticket fine plus court fees it gets very expensive $115 fine plus court fees good luck i had to pay $285 for tints in chicago when i went to court should have never went to court tell your friend hell save more money buy paying the $115

Take it to court. Remove the front tints and take a picture of it. They will dismiss it an he doesnt have to pay shit.
