    Question Fuel Filter DIY?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know someone had a thread not too long ago for a DIY on how to replace the fuel filter. Now that I am getting around to it I cant find it anywhere, searched here, 4t, AW, google...cant find it. Anyone want to post up a link if they know where it is? It would be greatly appreciated. Also, why are the recent DIY's not making it to the DIY section??

    TIA guys

    Re: Fuel Filter DIY?

I just did mine a couple months ago. I didn't run into a single problem like everyone was talking about. I raised the back up, put it on jack stands. Right next to the gas tank you'll see a silver canister with one line going in and one going out. There was 2 standard bolts holding it clamped in. Undid those. Broke the 1 use clamps with a screw driver. Replaced them with small radiator clamps. Haven't had a problem at all.

    Re: Fuel Filter DIY?

    Very easy.

Pull the fuel pump fuse, remove the gas cap, and run the car until it dies. Crank for a couple seconds to clear the lines as much as possible.

Cut the strap and pull the old filter out. Ziptie the new one in.

When you unhook the old one it will leak maybe a cup of fuel so be prepared. I wadded some newspaper up and put it in a little cardboard box under the filter.

haha zip-tie method, thats what I did.. I found the right size allen wrench but it just stripped out.. so I cut it off. And did you actually need to pull the fuse and crank it? I didn't do that.

    Re: Fuel Filter DIY?

i should have done that instead of spend hours trying to get that F'ING screw back in. i didn't get one of the top washers back on so i actually ended up paying to have it done because it was such a PITA.

make sure to get the new washers and shit from audi.

$15 haynes manual has alot of that stuff in it with pictures you can take out to the car with you without the papers blowing away. Plus you don't get gasoline smell on your laptop keys.
