To all BT guys i need to know what fuel pumps you guys are using on GT30setups bcuase I was tunning the car yesterday at autospeed and at nine pounds the car started to go lean. We need to know what fuel pump to put in the car or which is a direct drop in.

    Re: Fuel pump

supposedly greg is running the bosch 044 but it isnt a direct drop in, several people including me have tried to get it to work without success, greg told me there is an OEM basket that will allow it to work but i could never get the part number. i spoke with 034 motorsports extensively and they thought it would work at first but then said only on the b5's.

Most people around here have not found it necessary to upgrade the fuel pump beyond the stock OE pump. In the end I would wager to guess it comes down to cost.

They (the guys that posted here already) are all on the stock B6 non-return system.

There is only one B6 I'm aware of that is running a B5 return system. Tuned by GIAC.

We all use returnless systems still. I only know one person doing a complete fuel swap right now, but I'm not at liberty to give out any information about his setup until it's done. He's in Colorado as well for what its worth...

Clint, he said it's going lean at 9lbs of boost!

That would take one big ass turbo to max out the stock fuel pump on 9psi lol

I didn't even see that. Been a while since I've looked at that page. I just took the link from Josh's thread.

    Here's the info from 034:
Choose below to upgrade to the "040" pump which we rate to 600 crank HP, this is very close to the output of the 044 pump.

This is the perfect upgrade as the 044 pump is too tall to fit in the B6 tank, we've created a low profile, high flow solution for the cramped B6 tank.

    Re: Fuel pump

we made 319whp at 9psi and we gouldnt go any higher becuase there was a lack of fuel we even tried to inrich the fuel across the board and i have 630cc injectors but as soon as the boost comes on it is climing to 12.8 AF's And 13.0AF's. The only cood news is that the car made a lot more power with a custome tune on the dyno becuase befor er the car was only making mid 200whp at 15psi with giac softwear.

Do you think the fuel pump could be clogged?

    Re: Fuel pump

It is not likely you will run out of fuel, even with the stock pump unless the fuel lines have been upgraded to larger lines.

The OEM fuel filter/regulator only allows 3.76BAR of fuel pressure and the lines are only so large.

If you have a failing fuel pump and are looking for a solution, then you may want to look at upgrading your fuel pump.

I cannot see the fueling system being maxed out unless you are using injectors greater that 750cc

The only other thing I really have to inquire is that if you have your car at a tuner right now (Autospeed), why would you not let Mark tell you exactly what you need...it makes absolutely no sense.

It just not seem likely that Mark would have no clue. I have met him several times and have turned wrenches side by side with him. My wife has done datalogging for him while he has been tuning S4's.

If Mark says it is running out of fuel, then most likely it is...I just do not understand why he would send you out on an internet search for a fuel pump.

Buy the Bosch 040 from the 034 Motorsports link. This pump is a direct drop in for the B6 and you will not have to go through all of the bullshit I did with the 044 getting custom in tank lines made.

No 1.8t has put down 400whp on a stock pump, there hasn't even been a B6 that puts down 400whp so that claim would be very hard to hold up. Even the B5 1.8t needs a upgraded fuel pump to hit 400whp.

how complicated is it to fit a wallboro 255 fuel pump in the stock location. As for wiring and modifiying.

^I agree, you would have to make a custom backet for the walbro, to fit it in our tanks since it is a smaller diameter.

Walbro are louder and also you would have to custom-fit in in your tank since the diameter is smaller. The 040 is a straight drop-in along with the basket and little pieces of hardware. I've been running it for quite some time now and like it alot.

It will also last longer and you wont have to upgrade again when you wish to make more power.

Walbro pumps also dont like high fuel pressure which means you need to run a 3 bar base fuel pressure if you plan on really pushing high boost. The bosch pumps flow much more fuel at high pressure.

Lets just put it this way, you can pay more now or pay more in the long run. Your choice.

If you want to be a saint, you can take lots of pictures for a DIT writeup and shoo them to Martini.

The B6 community would be grateful.

LOL, Blake you crack me up, I never said I have no clue about what pump will flow, it was I have no clue what pump will DROP IN. I recommended the 044 as that's what we use on the S4's, but I have never been in the tank of a B6 1.8T. Cracks me up how things get translated and posted on the retarweb.

Anyway glad you didn't cheap out and went with the Bosch vs. Walbro, seen too many POS 255's.

Anyway get that car in shape and we can resume, and yes folks Blake is making >300whp @ 9psi
