How does S-line exterior styling differ from plain B7? Pics incl

Ahem.. I have to admit I've made my decision to purchase a B7 just a few days ago. The Touran plans has been sent to /dev/null. ANYWAY; I hear a lot of people talk about s-line styling. Interior style I get. The seeringwheel, seats etc etc. How how does it differ on the outside of the car? (except the front grille) I know I'm a newbie here, so please take your flaming elsewhere...

Bigger and lower frontbumper with bigger and nicer grill, bigger lower doorbumps, sedan has a integrated spoiler on the trunk, avant have one on the roof, s-line badges on the backdoors and in the grill, s-line sportsuspensions.

actually, if you are purchasing a new one (08), then the exterior is the same for the most part. 05.5 - 07 s-line package have different front bumper and a lip spoiler built into the trunk lid. on the 08, they all have the bigger front bumper and the lip spoiler, so maybe that's why you can't tell the difference

^^ that don't seem to be an s-line front. the s-line grille hangs lower and the horizontal piece on holding the fog supposed to be a separate piece that's not integrated with the bumper. seems that person just added the s-line badge.

you can also look an the b7 s4 fronts, slightly different grille but same style bumper.

it doesnt look like the "s-line" one on the left has the s-line front bumper, only the grill insert.
the s-line has more of a lip in front of the fog lights, actually has the same body as the S4 for better comparison.
after seeing enough s-lines, the regular a4 looks too plain. especially the back of the sedan. i like the different trunk and bumper of it.
i didnt like the B7 A4 styling at first until i saw the s-line package.

OMG! How lame is it to glue an sline sticker to a non-sline car? Why not get rid of the rings and put the Ferrari horse there as well?

However, it seems a bit random wether the vertical grill fins are on the outside of the horizontal ones or not. Anyone care to shed some light on the issue?

also the rear lower valance is color matched.

differences:

sline has a longer front bumper grill, which is switchable with the rs4 grill.

Sline has "s4 type door blades" which stick out more than non-sline . Non sline is flat and sline is not

Sline has matching painted rear valance.

sline wagons have a rear spoiler for roof, non doesnt.

sline has sporty "lowered" suspension.

Damn I wish I had the S-line. :-( I never really realized how much more badass the front grill/bumper looks until I saw those side by side pics. Oh well, at least I was fortunate enough to get the sport suspension...

for enthusiast like us, we can tell the difference, but to the naked eye..it looks like any ordinary bumper. People still dont realize I change my bumper.





It made enough of a difference for me to make the change. I think its the best looking full bumper out there in the market. A tire shop just ripped of my front bumper and instead of going aftermarket..i decided to keep the same setup, so they paying for another sline bumper.

maybe European models have different options/packages....the front bumper and the rear bumper valance from your links are definitely not the s-line options we see in US.

hmm... well they both have the s-line steering wheel, but in the UK they all had the bodywork differences as shown above... not sure about the rest of Europe though.

'08 SEs don't have the S-Line interior in US.

The A4 was sold as a s-line with the option on interior \ exterior or both.
So if you bought the s-line interior you could still get the s-line badges.
Both the links you posted are cars with this option, s-line interior but not exterior.

I didn't realize the trunks had integrated spoilers before '08. My '08 s-line looks like any other trunk.

yeah 08 are goofy, since everyone is "s-line" there are different things you can get. the true s-line will have a sport suspension.

My girlfriend's brother has an 07 non-sline but I do. You can certainly tell one from the other when they are parked side byu side and he's kicking himself for not going sline.

+1....my parents still think the bumpers are the same since i replace my standard to sline...I am kinda regret of not getting the DTM bumper by then...lol..but sline is definitely one of the nicest front for our b7, same as the usp for b6

Can you put a RS4 bumper on a NON-Sline A4? I guess all that would have to change is the grille right? So a S-Line driver can switch the bumper and use the S-Line grille while a NON-Sline would require both bumper and grille?

No, you cannot put the Rs4 grill on the non s-line without modifying the bumper. The grill opening is shorter on a non s-line, which is why it wont fit without cutting.

Non S-liners require new grill AND bumper. I personally am debating having my bumper cut to make it fit. It's been done before.

You forgot the biggest difference, the S-Line has a black roof liner and all other A4's with black interior have grey roof liners.

No. You're talking about Titanium package. Normal S-Line has gray headliner, with chrome trim still. Titanium package eliminates these and blacks them out, along with the piano black trim that would normally be brushed aluminum on S-Line models.
