    AWE B7 S4 catback

Anyone here have one yet? I'm thinking about getting one since the wife says I can go ahead and get it for Father's Day. I was debating getting PSS9's instead but those are way more expensive and even more so when you figure in install. I don't think she'll let me spend that much.

skiS4fun from AW and AZ just got it a week or so ago. he really loves it. get in touch with AWE and ask when the next batch of B7 S4 exhausts will be out. the wait is about 1-2 weeks (i think). no regrets!!

    Re: AWE B7 S4 catback

This might be my next mod since my wife won't let me get the S5 (at least not brand new). The APR was tempting while they had the sale for $1049. Kinda hesitant though as I keep trying to scheme my way into that coupe. But if I end up having to keep the S4 for a while might as well go for the exhaust.

Just a little FYI, I have PSS9's and am not that happy with them. As you can read, here, if you search, the springs are too soft and there is no way to upgrade them short of buying a set from eibach UK for around $750. I would seriously research KW, H&R and Stasis. I won't change, cause they are good enough not to justify spending the $$ to change. Oh, and I did my suspension first, it is a noticable mod.

True suspension is the better and beneficial mod, but the exhaust is less expensive and I just really want that sound.

Yea, you will have more fun with the exhaust, but suspension is the better bang for the buck performance wise.

    Re: AWE B7 S4 catback

I'm 99% sure I'm going to get exhaust cause it's only $1300 installed as opposed to $2k for coilovers & install.

And I'm 99% sure I'm going to get the AWE because they're local and I can get them for a good price. So skiS4fun, post up your impressions of it.

    Re: AWE B7 S4 catback

Search the archive for the B7 exhaust clip posted by AWE about a month and a half ago. If you're looking for a big difference in sound, the AWE system doesn't appear to be a good choice. Their system sounded like stock to me. Certainly not the night and day difference their B6 exhaust made. Even factoring in poor audio quality, the B7 exhaust didn't sound great at all. For $1300, I expect a noticeable upgrade. Stasis or Corsa sound much better.

    Re: AWE B7 S4 catback

As for the exhaust vs. coilover debate: I would go w/ the coils. The B7, while still subtle, definitely has a more aggressive exhaust growl than the B6. Sounds really good to me. However, the B7 body style and factory suspension combine to give it a weak stance, IMO. The car looks narrow and sits too high. Completely different when lowered, though. Coils would take care of that while also upgrading your driving experience.

Yes, I saw that when it was released; but if you scroll down further in the thread, you get this response from Todd at AWE:

The footage we shot was on a busy day with lots of traffic around the shop, and the customer expected to pick up the car soon. Plus, our regular "driver" was not behind the wheel, resulting in some tame driving displays. All these factors converged to produce a video that does not really capture the essence of the sound as all our other videos do.

In the end, this system sounds pretty much identical to our B6 resonated system. We will also offer a non-resonated system that also sounds like the B6 non-res. Just like with our B6 systems, we recommend coupling the resonated cat back to our downpipes, as downpipes increase the sound volume themselves.

    B6 system video:

AWE Tuning B6 S4 Resonated Cat Back with AWE Tuning Downpipes
So if it sounds like the B6 exhaust, then that's kinda what I'm looking for.

I agree with what you're saying about coils, but they're $700 more and I can't swing that right now.

ive heard just about every exhaust for the S4...i currently have the Stasis CB and it is hands down one of the best. If you plan on only doing CB, I would say that the Fast Intentions and this Stasis are the best CB.

We both make about equal income (actually, hers is a little more) and we share our money so it's really OUR money and things for my car are really a luxury. The S4 is really a luxury. I didn't need it but I sure did want it.

Fighting over money and finance is probably one of the reasons most marriages end in divorce.

LOL, that used to be me too, so I got smart, she is the stay at home mom and I earn 4X what we both used to, and now she don't say $hit :) Just got to learn how fly below the radar with the mods; "MAN!, I cannot believe it, on the way home I hit a really big pothole and think that I blew out my two front shocks, the alignment is shot and bent 2 rims!!!!" That is good for at least a suspension

My wife puts up with a lot of my crap and still lets me enjoy my car. I say its best to not get them pissed off at us. I usually try to make sure she has some toys too, that is if she even wants em. But I try to at least make the effort.
Maybe this has something to do with our coming up on 25th anniversary this year.
    Hey yeah; 25th anniversary mod,...(lol)

Yep, that video was not doing the system any justice and I just edited it down. We'll try to get a car back here to do a proper shoot.

In the meantime, we have sold through three production runs before each one was completed, so that is why we still have not added this to our website. It has been technically "on backorder" as we keep up with phone and e-mail orders for it before it has even been officially launched! Until we have unsold stock, we do not want to go live.

If you would like to get on a backorder list, knowing that it may be a week or so until fulfillment, contact a salesperson here.

I run Nuespeed catback with AWE DP's and it is plenty loud at WOT. The Neuspeed CB sounded great in my opinion, and the build quality was very nice.

If I loan you my car for a "proper shoot", can I get a discount on some springs/shocks or coilovers?

By the way, I love the exhaust. It's definitely much louder than stock and the video does not do it justice like you said. Great product!
