    Question Mirror Caps

Are there any tricks to installing a set of inpro mirror caps? Do they make different models? I thought the only difference is stubby or non stubby?

Here is the situation, I was sold a new set of mirror caps that was suppose to fit my A6. When I got them in the mail they were for a stubby pass mirror so they wouldn't fit.

Fast forward, I sold them to a local A4 driver with stubby mirros but he is having fitment problems.

    Any suggestions?

    Thx

    that guy is me...

id love to get them working but they honestly do not fit well at all....ill take the stock yellows off tomorrow and put these "on" to take some pictures tomorrow

the bottom plastic cup does not line up AT ALL , im talking about half inch gaps and different design/shape...theres only one screw in the inside instead of 2 or 3 depending on the sides...and the mirrors are proportionally smaller inside the new covers

i dont get it, because ive heard of people loving the in.pro sets

is this set i have not for a 98 a4? i dont get it .....help us out guys!

i took a dremol to remove extra plastic in channels to make it fit better, but they never fit like oem. I then drove on highway and they whissled so took tehm off and boxed them. If you want them pm me and i am sure we can figure something out. They are the post 99.5 ones I have.

maybeeee just mayyyyybeeee they are really only designed for the a6...maybe the a6 is slightly different, i do know the early a6 did have stub mirror....though yours has regular size

well figure it out tomorrow i think, gimme a call when you are done with work and we can meet up

    Re: Mirror Caps

I have the InPro mirrors on my car and they fit with no problem whatsoever. Just to let you know though. If yours are fitting wrong maybe you have the wrong set, There are different sets for the facelift A4's and pre-facelift A4's. The reason for this is not just because of the stubby mirror but also because the mirrors are completely shaped differently and not the same form. The frist picture below is of a pre-facelift mirror, See how the bottom plate is curved. The second picture is of a facelist style mirror, Notice the plate has a more straight edge. The other difference is that the mirror glass itlsef has a different shape in the facelift A4's so the mirror housing is also shaped differently to accommodate it.
