    After market catalytic converter recommendations?

    My Milltek cat is down for the count. I got it in 04' for my 2002 A4. Any other brands out there besides Milltek that delivers similar performance without the high price tag? Generally, how durable are aftermarket cats? My local tech says they are not as durable as dealer ones but my Milltek outlasted my OEM.

    Well some of the aftermarket cats emit a CEL. Do a search! :)

    Emitec, HJS are the two core manufacturers.
    Milltek is made with HJS and they will last loooong time as long as engine is not running too rich.
    Too rich and cat will melt down. Metal "cats" will tolerate higher temperatures than ceramic (old style) cats but there is a limit.

    Interesting stuff! Especially the section on the VVT. I did not realize the cam adjuster could move the cam timing that far. I always thought it would be 10 degrees or so.
