    Need Help Lowering!!!

Hey guys just wanted to get some info. on lowering my A4. I have an 03 1.8T quattro with the base model, and thinking about lowering it. I really love the way a sport package audi's look. I think i really only need 1.5" front and back. Do you guys have any advise for me? Do i only need springs? Or shocks also? Is the installation a big pain? Whats the best way to do this, i'm really on budget too. Thanks..

    Re: Need Help Lowering!!!

You could buy someone's sport suspension from the classifieds if that is what you are going for..

    Re: Need Help Lowering!!!

your cheapest option is to find used sport suspension (shocks and springs) in the classifieds. you can probably get it shipped for $200-$250. 2002 is the lowest year.

You can always go with some good coilovers if you would like.

But he said he's on a budget.

Go with the 02 Sport suspension for $250!
Upgraded the motor a little, brakes a little more, and suspension a lot.

    Re: Need Help Lowering!!!

you will want to replace shocks too. Best option is that 02 sport suspension. And installation is kind of a bitch if you are inexperienced. At a good shop, install will be in the neighborhood of 400. Or you could find an az'er in your area and pay him in beer.

    Re: Need Help Lowering!!!

will the 02 sport suspension fit an 04? I like the way the sports suspension looks and I want to put 19's on the car. Do you guys think the sports suspension will make a big difference since I am running the stock suspension on a b6 now? Also i am am in NY so I don't want to go to low because of snow.

    Re: Need Help Lowering!!!

I have an '03 Avant and just put my 19s on with only H&R springs as an upgrade from the Sport suspension. I get a rub on dips in the road but not really on bumps and truly love the ride and feeling until the rub sound disturbs my inner peace. Sport suspension will not be enough for the look that I am assuming that you will be looking for. I should have listened to the advice of the masses on here that said to get springs AND shock or just go with coilovers...needless to say I am shopping on Tirerack for some new shocks right now. Considering the cost of tires for 19s, your arguement of “on a budget” doesn’t wash…START with an aftermarket spring as your bare bottom choice and work from there. Avoid the mistakes that many…including myself made.
