Re: New DIY - for real this time, Intake manifold and gasket

The new intake gasket shown in the pic looks like a large port gasket. I purchased one from the same place I bet (same gasket manufacturer too) and also received a large port gasket. They told me that is the only part # they had for all 1.8t's. I told them that is the wrong gasket for AMB and advised them to change their website. Doubt they ever did...

realistically... how much of a difference would it even make? i would see the issue with a gasket that had ports too small.. but not too much of an issue of 'too big'... its not like they would be big enough that they wouldnt seal, or that they would leak across channels, etc

fair enough... I mean theoretically it would mess up the uniform flow but I couldnt imagine that would really do anything that anyone would care about

they are actually really nice... but I'm actually going to be selling them shortly!! ive decided that I wanted black... so I installed these while i get my stockers cleaned and poweder coated black.... then I will re-install the originals and sell these

these would look badass on a dolphin car... my car is totally blacked out at this point... so i figured i would pull some black into the engine bay.

Re: New DIY - for real this time, Intake manifold and gasket

Ryan, that's a good write up. Funny that I just got done doing that, too. I did mine red to match the battery, as seen in my pic whore "engine porn" post last week.
One thing I want to note is to make sure to cover up any holes if cleaning engine while the manifold is off (as those of us who are OCD would do), and make sure to cover injector holes with tape or something when putting manifold back on.
I learned the hard way that a bolt can easily jump where you'd least want it to..... right down the injector hole, when you've got the other 9 already on.
Luckily a magnet on a telescoping extension fished it right out without having to re-take the manifold off.
My 2004.5 APR Stage 3+ is SOLD
